By popular (?) demand, I've updated (and cleaned up) my suffrage and citizenship timeline with recent events and some additional clarifications. Feedback welcome! I will make the file available on my website (christinawolbrecht.com) by COB.

Even if I had already seen a digital version, there is nothing like holding a printed copy of Accountability Shock in my hands!

Exciting news! Accountability Shock is available! The book shows how robust transitional justice contributes to the development of peaceful democracies and prevents the outbreak of criminal wars. It is the product of a truly amazing intellectual partnership with G. Trejo and @tiscornia21.bsky.social

📢 New article📢 Why do assassinations of social activists persist in democratic regimes? Juan Albarracín, Rodrigo Moura Karolczak & Jonas Wolff link these killings to highly territorialized industrial deforestation in the Amazon, where criminal-political networks violently react to local resistance.

Article by @juanalbarracind.bsky.social, Rodrigo Moura Karolczak, & Jonas Wolff examines assassinations of social activists in the Global South: In the Brazilian Amazon (plus case study of Altamira), killings are linked to industrial deforestation & criminal-political networks, not drug trafficking.

The German CDU today knowingly breaks one of the fundamental unwritten rules of German democracy after 1945: never cooperate with anti-democratic, far right forces. By passing a parliamentary resolution with the support of the AfD, they have willingly weakened German democracy. Eine Schande!
