On the walk home from my eye appointment downtown Sac, I decided to stop in at Sana’a Cafe on K Street for the first time. Ordered an iced pistachio latte and this simple yet amazingly delicious honeycomb bread. 👍🏻 😋

My amazing belated birthday dinner tonight at Cap G: Braised lamb shank, ravioli in a brown butter beurre blanc sauce w/sun-dried tomatoes + asparagus. Paired w/2018 Orin Swift Machete red wine. Kudos to chef - this dish is super delicious.

Ok, this Dubai Chocolate bar had a little issue coming out of the mold, so using for QA purposes. Oddly addictive. Not as sweet as I feared, dark chocolate gives it a nice balance. I’m not 100% sure if filling is too thick as some I’ve seen on socials are “oozier”. Sharing w/pals to get feedback.

I love lamb, especially on this particular holiday. When I was growing up, the only time we had lamb was at Easter in Alaska, when the church Brotherhood would roast a whole lamb outside for after services. If you were raised up Eastern Orthodox, ya know.

I haven’t made cake pops in forever because they aren’t part of my line card anymore, but I’m making a batch for Easter and *damn* I had forgotten how yummy a fresh slice of vanilla cake is with frosting slathered on it. (Yeah, I snagged a corner piece for myself 😂😇)

My local butcher in East Sacramento, V.Miller, closed 😥 but they pointed customers to one of their suppliers and this week I got my first delivery from Stemple Creek Ranch in Marin County. I’m giving this cowboy ribeye the reverse-sear treatment.

Stayed up past midnight binge watching the 4-episode run of “Adolescence” on Netflix and holy shit. What performances. The way it’s shot is really intense and immersive. Last episode hit home for reasons. Highly recommend.

So the CA GOP Spring Convention is in downtown Sacramento this weekend and so far: Trucks with multiple flags are back. Lawrd 🤦‍♀️ I’ve noticed they’ve switched from red hats to the MAGA black font on black hats. Guess they are worried walking downtown with the traditional red. (1/2)

The first time I tried to cook a tri-tip I set off the hotel fire alarm. 😂🤦‍♀️ Luckily just in my unit because if the hallway ones go off, Fire Dept has to respond/evac hotel side and *that* would have been embarrassing.

I don’t have access to a grill in my apartment but I have figured out a way to cook that comes as close as I can…

Instructions w/pics on how to slow cook ribs in oven. Remove silver skin. Cover with dry rub, wrap in foil and cook at 250F for 2 hours. Then baste with sauce and cook open foil for another 30 minutes. Baste again and broil on high til color is good (5-10 minutes).

I feel like Jake LaRavia needs more recognition for his scrappy play last night. He, JV, & Lyles do a lot that doesn’t make a stat sheet or highlight reel but impacts the game. Active hands, throwing bodies on the court in scramble for loose ball, making other team feel physical presence. 👊🏻💜

My 2 cents: the Kings fanbase will love a player, even after they are gone, up until the point where it feels like they are trashing the city/fanbase. I think some of Fox’s more recent comments toward the *mgmt* have been skewed a certain way to generate drama. That I don’t like.
