Pretty funny how "the powers that be" were real quiet about protecting people from AI using their likeness. Now that people are making AI videos of THEM, there's already bills on the table 🤣

I have minor aspirations to be a VTuber someday. I think my ultimate goal as a VTuber is to not have a Google Doc with my name anywhere in it 😂

I blame Monster Hunter Wilds for my lack of submitting auditions and online engagement recently 😬

I've been thinking about disconnecting from my pseudonym and just going by my name. I want to take voice acting more seriously and I want to be taken more seriously in turn. Has anyone else dealt with this before? Would love some input. Did you get more work before/after, etc?

Oh sweet! Congrats! One of my favorite voice actors in one of my favorite game series! 🙌

You're making up stuff to stay triggered my guy. Just stop. It's not healthy. Trying to say AC has never put real characters into their unrealistic game is just a lie. To be mad because it's one of the protagonists is just edgy and stupid.

I started voice acting as a hobby, but the last couple of years have been pretty good for me, so I want to get ahead of it before Uncle Sam hunts me down! 😬

Voice actors, have any of you started an LLC yet? I'm having to keep a close eye on my VA income for tax reasons and wondering if it would be beneficial to start one. Since most of the income I make from VA goes back into the content I produce, I figure I could write those off as business expenses.

My brain saw "spicy stream" at first and I thought *😮*, but spicy "ramen" stream sounds good! 🤣

I honestly don't know, and neither do the Nazis complaining about a trans person existing in a side quest. The game has already sold more than a million copies. Very disingenuous to blame "wokeness" and not the fact they're releasing unfinished games, micro transactions and over charging 🤣

Since this post is taking off, don't mind my shameless plug of myself. Game devs, need a voice actor? I'd love to work with you! jtrannva.carrd.co

You don't have to do the quest at all. I still think it's wild that far left is trans people existing, and far right is literal Nazis.

100

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

Dragonage Veilguard. Optional quest that you don't have to do with a trans character. What was the response from the right when they heard about it?

100

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

Best example to prove my claim. Baldurs Gate 3. A fantastic game, worth the money and you can be a dude who fucks other dudes. It's not the "woke" killing games.

100

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

That's no different than someone not playing a JRPG because they're not into JRPGs. They're not failing by being "woke", they're simply incomplete games, riddled with corporate greed, then charging too much.

100

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

I would not call a meme game, not meant to be taken seriously, a AAA game. If it's a good game, I'll play it. I'm not going to NOT play a great game because it has one trans character or something. I've played plenty of games with Nazis (far right) in it already 🤣

110

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

What would a far right message look like in a game to you? Because it's probably far worse than whatever far left message you have in your head.

210

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

AAA studios are struggling, not because they're going "woke". Indie game devs are creating better games with more replayability for $30-40. AAA studios release half a game for $70. I feel bad for these incredibly talented devs when it's obviously a management issue.

What are some of your favorite JRPGs? Could be a classic or new. Thinking about posting some playthroughs and I need some ideas. I have yet to play Chrono Trigger, but I'm told regularly that I need to! 😂

Saw an AI project on there yesterday and despite all of the comments from users saying, "DON'T AUDITION FOR THIS", one person did anyway. 😑

110

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

Ohhh! I'm working currently, but 100% auditioning for this!

010

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

Exactly! I made the mistake early on of committing to long term unpaid projects. Then I started regularly landing paid gigs but still had those previous commitments hanging over my head. It ultimately became a burden more than anything. 😔

010

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

I'll say this for ANY profession, but don't work for free on anyone else's terms but your own. If you want to "work" for free, do it with friends! Make an audio drama, try dubbing something, etc. Make it fun. Make it practice. You'll hone your skills and start landing those paid gigs! I promise!

150

JTrannVA🎙️ @jtrannva.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

New VAs, your time and your talent has value! Don't ever feel like you NEED to work for free to get your name out there. While there are some solid unpaid gigs, most may hold you back. If you're working on an upaid project and you feel like it's not going anywhere, YOU will not go anywhere.

To make the direction sound more genuine, they should say, "Read this like you're trying to convince your best friend to buy into a pyramid scheme"
