Honestly, she ought to just back out of the next debate. He's mopped the floor with her 2 outta 2.

Not Troy Jackson responding to Collins' claims of Medicare fraud in Maine by pointing out that maybe she ought to stop since only one person on the stage has been accused of fraud. 🤭

Moved my living room around this weekend and now my shelves are all back together again. 😊
Two book shelves, a utility cart, and a pile of books all linedup next to each other. The shelves and cart are full of books and decorated with knick knacks. The grey metal utility cart is covered in stickers and magnets.

Obligatory apple hoard photo. Multiple varieties were producing fruit as big as softballs. It was wild.

And yesterday I walked downtown to the Library book sale. I found two books from my reading list, another Forster, and the Armitage Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, because there's no such thing as too many translations. Obviously. So it's been a good couple of weeks for book thrifting!

Last weekend my family and I went apple picking and stopped at my favorite used bookstore in Farmington, Twice Sold Tales, where I got that Notion Critical Edition of Howard's End and the Sherlock collection which is made up of facsimile pages from The Strand Magazine, which I thought was neat.
A stack of books including paperbacks of Possession by A.S. Wyatt, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight translated by Simon Armitage, Howard's End and A Passage to India by E.M. Forster, and a hardcover of The Illustrated Sherlock Holmes Treasury by Arthur Conan Doyle

I don't know if I'd bring an iced coffee to a job interview, but brought one to the library book sale today and then stopped for another one on the walk home, which was an excellent life choice.

This was fantastic. It was so creepy, and it reminded me how much I love cursed film stories. And then what started as a cursed film story took a wonderfully strange and unexpected turn, which only made me love it more. Hailey Piper is definitely one of my go-to authors for weird, cosmic horror.

This has apparently become a terrible Tuesday habit. But gosh I love this mini-series.

Man do I love a found footage horror film, though. Give all of that me that Paranormal Activity style home security footage. I will be first in line to stare way too intently at the screen trying to spot whatever creepy shenanigans are going down.

On today's episode of Don't Do That, Horror Edition: If the box in the old ruins has chains and weird writing on it, don't touch it. And definitely don't open it. This survival PSA bought to you by "It's Name Was Mormo". Don't die like these people are probably going to die.

This feels like an appropriate pairing. I've been waiting all week to start Hailey Piper's newest, THIS MOVIE DOESN'T END THE WAY WE WANT, so I'm really glad today is my Friday and I can finally dive in.

I bought the thickest, softest flannel duvet cover from Beans. It's so heavy with my down comforter in it that I can feel it pressing on all my bones. Which feels really good and like I can actually stay in one piece and I'm maybe never coming out from under here ever. I live here now.

I love the vast weirdness of Bitter Karella's books. Is QUAINT FOLK about the horror of repression and the use of religion for social control? Yes. But is it also about a village full of suspiciously nice bunny-devil-deity worshippers and a plot set as much in Stepford as in Summerisle? Also yes. 🐰🖤

The class was fun though. My body remembers basically nothing about how to dance ballet, but hey it's a beginner class. We'll all get there.

I went to my first adult ballet class tonight despite being really nervous, and my nervous system has decided to reward my bravery with ✨️More Anxiety✨️! So now I'm watching Hunchback of Notre Dame at 11PM, as one does.

This Side of Paradise is my second Fitzgerald book and I'm having an absolute ball. Amory is a delight! And a complete mess. A restless, (Capital-R ) Romantic, egotistical mess, so of course I adore him.

New aesthetic goal. All the girls want a slender garter ad boy.
Part of a page from F. Scott Fitzgerald's This Side of Paradise with the words "of garter-advertisement slenderness" underlined. On the page, Isabelle, who has just spotted Amory, is describing his appearance and comparing it with her expectations.

Trad Wife is one of those books that's going to linger. Creeping into my thoughts. Populating my nightmares with sticky toddlers and evil yellow wallpaper. It takes a minute to really get going, but the second half was both fascinating and horrifying in a "watching the train crash" kind of way.

It's gloomy and overcast here, which means it's a perfect day for reading horror. I'm a little less than halfway through the arc of TRAD WIFE by Sarah Langan (out 9.29.26), enjoying it so far, and really curious to see where this is going!

Just me and my 5 hr ambient city noises video trying to get some sleep because this apt building is too far back from the road and it's too damn quiet after 6 yrs living directly on a busy street. Sweet traffic sounds, how I miss thee. Drunk people shouting at 2AM, did you ever find your hotel?

Every person being fascist and puritanical about sex needs to be relentlessly berated and ridiculed. It is anti-human behavior that actively contributes to the corporate sanitization of the internet, forced ID verification laws, criminalization of queer people, and women being stripped of autonomy.

Oooooh, it's really pretty. 🖤🧡💜 August is my last favorite month because it's the hottest and I spend most of it hiding from the sun. So it's the perfect time to stay inside where it's cool and dark and enjoy a queer vampire murder mystery. With a talking cat!
A paperback of Be Still My Unbeating Heart by Josh Winning. The two leads stand back to back with an Italianate city in the background. One lead has light brown skin with dark hair, wearing a dark blue polo shirt. The other is pale with shoulder length blonde hair, sunglasses, and a Hawaiian shirt. Between them sits a black cat.

10:45 pm things to do when you should be going to bed: message a friend about how War & Peace is bullying your emotions and making you worry about a character you're not even sure you like? But yeah, someone should really check on Andrei. That man is saying some CONCERNING things about death.

Being an adult is realizing that if you prep a bunch of chicken, some veg, couple of sauces, and a carb or two, you can prep multiple meal options for the same week all at once. Being a better adult is realizing that no where does it say the chicken you prep can't be dinosaur chicken nuggets. 🦖

pride and prejudices your hansry ✨🌿 #hansry #KCD2
A digital illustration inspired by the pairing Hansry (Hans Capon and Henry of Skalitz from the game series Kingdom Come Deliverance). The illustration is influenced by a scene in the 2005 film Pride and Prejudice. It is separated into 3 panels.
Panel 1: Hans Capon looks behind him in quiet shock at his bodyguard Henry.
Panel 2: Henry has touched Hans' ungloved hand with his gauntleted one in a gentle hold. The panel is surrounded by blooming flowers: herbs and plants that Henry can forage on his journey. Marigold, St John's Wort, Valerian, Sage, Chamomile, and Dandelion.
Panel 3: Henry meets Hans' eyes with an unreadable expression. He quietly yearns beneath it.

Yes! Definitely this. That first egg, after not eating one in a while? 🤌 Also, I'm supremely lazy, so usually I avoid breakfasts that require me to use the stove first thing in the morning. But apparently I'm going to have to rethink that strategy.
