Live Laugh Love by Kristin Du Mez is a brilliantly argued history of Christian women and how they navigated national, cultural and religious pressures to act and behave as conservative, feminine, and domestic.

Today was one of my favorite mail days of the year. The leadership team of CFH includes some of the finest scholars I know. The field of Christian history is a ripe field for interrogating the Christian tradition from both insiders and outsiders.

An evangelical cultural apologetic cannot be built on the anecdotal fallacy. Your exceptional personal experience does not give you cause to deny and dismiss the experience of others or the overwhelming evidence of history.

My favorite part about the Odyssey resurgence is how Emily Wilson and Christopher Nolan settled a 28 year dispute between my Pre-Ap World Studies teacher and I on the proper pronunciation of Telemachus. I’m finally vindicated on the correct pronunciation.

My only misgiving about the Odyssey was miscasting of Agamemnon. Ben Affleck was the obvious choice. Who else could demand Matt Damon’s loyalty, be Jon Bernthal’s brother, and universally and tragically despised by all. Otherwise a perfect Nolan film!
