Sunday morning bicycle ride, approaching Kohelepelepe (Koko Crater).
A view of Kohelepelepe (Koko Crater) in the distance, green thanks to the wet spring, with the blue Pacific Ocean off the the right and Kalanianaʻole Highway stretching out towards the volcanic tuff cone, with a partly cloudy sky above.

Mele Kalikimaka!
A large, artificial snowman, standing at the corner of Diamond Head Road & Coconut Ave in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. The snowman is waving with his right hand and holding a red sign with yellow letters spelling out “Mele Kalikimaka” in his left hand. Standing in front of brightly colored plants, the snowman is wearing a festive top hat and grass skirt.

Kōlea (Pacific Golden Plovers) are back in Hawaiʻi! They breed in Alaska over the summer and return to Hawaiʻi in the fall, usually to the exact same location. They make the non-stop flight from Alaska to Hawaiʻi (4800 km) in 3-4 days.

The view from Round Top Drive in Honolulu.
A picturesque view from above Honolulu, with the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (foreground) and Lēʻahi (Diamond Head) and the middle background. The dark blue of the Pacific Ocean is visible under a cloudy sky.

Great day to take a nap in the sun, especially if you’re a Hawaiʻian monk seal!
A Hawaiian monk seal naps in the sun at Sandy Beach, O’ahu. The seal is on black rock. The Pacific Ocean is visible in the background and on the right side of the image. Two small, red flags in the foreground delineate the “no entry” zone, to keep the seal safe.

Four different views of Koko Crater.
Koko Crater, on the eastern tip of Oʻahu, rises above Sandy Beach. The Pacific
ocean is visible on the left, with the beach and some vegetation in the foreground. The blue sky is partly obscured by white clouds. Haleʻiwa Metric Century this morning! Always great to visit the north shore of Oʻahu!
The Waianea mountains from across Kaiaka Bay, early in the morning. The distant mountains appear small. The cloudy sky reflects in the calm, blue water of the bay. A view of the Pacific Ocean from Hauʻula Beach Park. The blue sky is mostly full of fluffy white clouds. The beach curves to the left of the picture, where a group of palm trees grow tall. A view of the Pacific Ocean from Kaʻena Point State Park. The blue sky is half-full of fluffy, white clouds. There’s a beach that stretches off to the left side of the photo. In the mid-ground is a field of black lava rocks, shaped like long stairs. A view of the Pacific Ocean from Kaʻena Point State Park. Paikō Lagoon
A view of Koko Head, on the left side of the picture, beyond Paikō Lagoon, on April 22, 2025. Taken just after low tide, the water level in the lagoon is fairly low. The blue sky is streaked with wispy white clouds.

Hālona Beach, Oʻahu
Hālona Beach, a small beach on the eastern side of O’ahu, on Saturday morning, April 19, 2025. The beach is photographed from above (from Kalanianaʻole Highway), the turquoise blue water meeting the beach sand at a small inlet in the rocky cliffs. A few people can be seen on the beach, and in the distance, Makapuʻu Point. The blue sky is partly obscured by white clouds.

On the windward side of Oʻahu today.
The Ko’olau Range, in the background, reflected in the Kawainui Canal on a beautiful Saturday day, 29 March 2025. Palm trees on the right side of the photo are also reflected in the still water, along with a few clouds.
