Florence #Baptist #Church / Food Bank Baptist leadership arrived in the #Arizona Territory in 1875 and started to organize. The oldest confirmed Baptist organization in Florence was founded in 1953 and may have been a black Baptist church based on records of surnames and more. #History #BW

The 2nd Pinal County (Arizona) courthouse was completed in February of 1891 for $34,765 and considered a large sum of money for the time. The clock tower was constructed but there was not enough money for the clock mechanisms so the clock face was painted on with a time of 11:44.

Good morning to all my toga wearing sun worshiping friends and family. Our home intersects at Rabbit Brush and Coachwhip, Coachwhip being the east-west street. Every Spring Solstice and Fall Equinox our Sun sets aligned with Coachwhip and I keep threatening to get a toga for this celestial event.

#Butterfly Wonderland in Scottsdale is another diamond in the desert we've found while in Arizona. Imagine wandering through a tropical paradise full of different varieties of butterfly's, it's truly amazing. Young and old love it. One of the dozens we saw in 2024 was this Julia Longwing.

The pueblo #Tuzigoot (#Apache term for “crooked waters”) was built around 1100 CE and was in continual addition phase until abandoned. When the Southern #Sinagua (Spanish – sin “without” and agua “water”) left in the 1300’s there were 110 rooms.

Larry's #Antiques in #Cottonwood is probably one of our favorite shops in #Arizona. Before the new owners took over it was two huge buildings, one a two story, and plenty of stuff lying on the ground on the two acre site.

#Lightening has an electric potential of 100 million-1 billion volts, a lightening bolt heats air to around 50,0000 degrees. I had one right over me a few years ago trying to get a shot of lightening over The #Superstitions. Fun Fact: That was the fastest I've ever packed up and jumped in my car.

Hatch Chilies are in! It was 106 degrees while I roasted everything over 450 degree #lump #charcoal. But #Hatch #Chilies don't wait for cooler weather. Awesome batch of #Chilie #Verde. Made about 5 cups and only used three of the chilies. #BBQ #Food

The American Kestrel—North America's smallest falcon—is famous for its ability to "wind-hover". By angling its body into the wind, rapidly flapping its wings, and making subtle tail adjustments, the bird stays completely stationary in midair to spot and ambush prey like insects and small rodents.

From our yard this week. Fun fact about #Roadrunners; they will go after snakes by circling them and at the right moment use their beak to stab at the skull. Once the snake is stunned, the Roadrunner will pick it up and repeatedly smash the snake on rocks or the ground. #photography
