These are really nice, but the macro/programming buttons being on the face where they are, is the big negative to me. If you're going by touch they're very easy to confuse with start/select. They aren't something you use constantly, I wish they were on the bottom edge or someplace out of the way.

Posting a quick pic of Puzzle Rogue! Renala the mage uses an ability that breaks a green gem and its neighbors! The player's party faces down a bat skeleton and two fire elementals! Add us to your wishlist on Steam! Thanks for #TurnBasedThursday !
An 8x8 board of gems shows the green ones highlighted, and the player selecting one to break. The player's party is on the left, and the enemy party is on the right.

The crazy thing is how hard it would be to follow up. They were in early access for YEARS. They iterated forever. Can you imagine a corporate-assembled team from Hasbro being able to do that? Borderline impossible for a non-independant team who had to set milestones three years ago.

They're not the same, but I will say, I think the prequel's underrated. It goes too sci-fi big in the last act but taken on its own it's pretty cool. Uses a lot of the same tropes and they work.

I never thought I'd trust somebody less than "people who make smart TVs", but then the AI industry arrived. We use Freedcamp for task tracking, which has been fine, but they added AI bullshit a month. I had to go through customer support to get it disabled for our organization. Nothing in the UI.

These pictures remind me of Oblivion, where they had normal maps for the first time and everything feels so overdesigned.

Varog has a trinket called a Guard Seal, which will share defense with all allies when it maxes out. Krinn has Blue Aegis, so he can spend mana to give an ally defense. Syrin can buff all shields on the board to give double defense. It takes some attention but you can keep everybody fully protected.
A screenshot from Puzzle Rogue, showing all characters with their Defend maxed out! Wishlist on Steam!

One Last Kill is so over the top violent that it doesn't even feel like a modern movie. I kept thinking that this is what Cannon wanted the Death Wish movies to be, if they had a star that wasn't ninety years old and a way better budget.

I genuinely want to know what percentage of usage is fraud. Not even like, pseudo-fraud like astroturfing, which is clearly plenty. I mean like actual, send an message to your mom pretending to be a long lost cousin in need, leave a fake voice mail, here's a fake business deal, literal fraud.

I watched a YouTube video breaking down the implementation of this level, once, and the collision on your character vs the vines is incredibly misleading. I would think you keep the box smallish and center of mass on the character. NOPE.

There's an unsaid thing here that I do legitimately wonder about: What was going on, from the inside perspective, that Sandy thinks 90's id Software was operating on a shoestring? People were buying F40s.

I think you probably can, but it certainly will not be a nice tidy little media-center box. And it won't be a slam dunk, just somewhat cheaper.

One of my favorite game development stories is actually about exactly this, but it's long and alas, doesn't have much of a punchline. Was pretty much this happening though.

I run a studio that specializes in multiplatform development, handles porting work etc. It's interesting that half the Unreal projects we encounter are still on 4.27.

They eventually went to a single window mode, but this stuck around even in Windows for ages. Ironically, they almost certainly did this originally because that's how Photoshop for MacOS acted.

I do feel like Gimp is a bit of whipping boy as far as this goes. It's kind of janky but the UI is pretty bog-standard paint program stuff, then people talk like it's unusable. That said, Krita exists and seems like the nicer quality product overall.

Looking up polling from May: Bass was at 26%, Raman at 25%, and Pratt was at 22%. Reality shows Bass overperforming a little but the proportions aren't that far off. I guess these guys live in such a bubble they think this is unprecedented?

I've seen this illustration before and somehow never noticed that the dragon has both two arms and four legs. An unusual body layout. Fifteen years later we'd see this design again, in Dark Souls. If this guy represents blazing, I guess the Gaping Dragon represents munchies.
