I don't know if I'm too github brained, but I just added streak counter to my freewriting TUI. It is nice to have some visual queues you are achieving your consistency goals as long as you don't lose focus on doing the real writing.

People here compare agents to locecraftian shoggoth. I think if they want a slight more human mascot they might consider the manufactured black mages from final fantasy 9. They are constructs with great power used by the forces of the world. They become self aware and come to love life.

This time of year is so green. The contrast of shade a light is lovely.

I finished reading starfish by Peter watts this past weekend. I did not expect that the discussion of ai from a book written in 1999 would be pretty reflective of 2026. Turns out watt's smart gels mirror in some way deep learning and llms!

It's harder than I thought to maneuver an underwater drone when there aren't features to navigate by. Then all the sudden you bump into cool looking rocks.

I really should not be adding more side quests but underwater drones are so cool!

"Learn from my mistakes" was always hard for my literal brain. We are different people! But now I see this advice as more general gesturing at directions to head rather than learning a set of laws based on the experience of others. open.substack.com/pub/atelierm...

Fetching images for an item for a retails with very different web shop setups is hard. Getting enough coverage that users feel like there will be an image more often than not is the goal. Right now I have coverage on a set of websites that don't require a headless browser.

I watched one Kai Lentit video about how as soon as you provision a VPS, it is under attack by bots. After a day on a new Hetzner VPS fail2ban shows 356 failed ssh login attempts. But it's nice that Hetzner let's you just disable password auth for ssh during provisioning (it is the default).

Reviving old laptops is fun as long as the proprietary drivers needed are easy to find and install.

What on earth was I trying to say with this doodle from last year. I think I need to make sure to take notes because this makes no sense to me now.

I built a cli to help write multiple posts. I also really like when posts are numbered and include the total number of posts in the thread. That functionality is only part that not completely trivial. Check it out github.com/joedaws/chun... Right now I just have a linux binary in the releases.
