I'd give him the Nobel for inadvertently accelerating the transition to EVs and renewables by starting a dumb oil war that made everyone else acutely aware that renewables are more reliable and cheaper especially during times of global crisis.

Player ratings are dumb. We know when players operate well or not. We see it. And the team results testify to those performances. Who cares what number someone assigns to a player.

Chutzpah traditionally carries a negative connotation ... As in ... "I can't believe the chutzpah in a draft dodger belittling war veterans." Cojones is perhaps a more apt term.

In a civilized society, nobody should need to beg for basic food supplies. In a society with a trillionaire and billionaires, where "defence" spending will hit $1.5 trillion a year, where billions of dollars annually get given to a "friendly" nation waging a genocide, that's even more so the case.

Sweden and Arsenal don't play the same way. Gyokeres would be lethal in a system designed to maximize his superpowers. Arteta's system isn't that.

Send chats about "free Palestine" instead of "free pussy" and see where that lands you. (Hint: the punishment won't stop at writing essays ...)

These charges are up to 2018. What of their cheating between 2019 up to now? These owners cannot ever be trusted again, and the league needs to resolve this case.

If these seven Cornell students had messaged their frat brothers "Free Palestine" instead of "Free pussy," they'd have been expelled instead of just been forced to write essays.

And this is the argument for forcing that club to be sold to new owners because the current one(s) can't be trusted again.

I think Trump secretly works for the renewables sector and this is his way of catalysing the shift from fossil fuels to renewables.

On a more serious note, though, maybe we shouldn't have people with absurd levels of wealth because that much wealth just makes think the rules don't apply to them.

Sheikh Mansour and his family are the government of Abu Dhabi.
110
JS Burns @jsburns.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Yeah they should try again in the wake of these 115 decisions. There's an inherent unfairness in allowing clubs to deal with corporate entities owned by the same people who own the clubs.
010
JS Burns @jsburns.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Etihad Airways is owned by Abu Dhabi government. Manchester City is owned by a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family. The Premier League should enact regulations banning companies and clubs owned by the same people from doing sponsorship deals with each other.

£200m over ten years will do that.

JS Burns @jsburns.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Over the ten years he was at City, Pep "earned" roughly £200m. I guess that money comes with strings attached.

Deliberately. With intent to disadvantage other clubs in the league. The Haaland transfer alone should open them up to severe penalties.

JS Burns @jsburns.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
City's owners have normalized cheating. When Bernardo Silva, after cowardly kicking out at Ødegaard from behind, was asked about it, knowing there's footage of it going viral out there, knowing there's no defence for it, he responded "that's football." That's the impact of normalizing cheating.

The one they dodged out of the 115 is supposedly a major one ... It's the allegation that they withheld information on the valuations of the sponsorship deals they signed. That's the smoking gun that could have landed them serious penalties because they knowingly intended to overvalue the deals.

I think the question remains of Bruno G should be the automatic starter in our midfield specially given the only match wherein he started there, we lost.

He's as free to express his beliefs as he's obligated to wear the armbands his contracted employer stipulates. If he does truly loves Jesus, he should consider that supposedly, Jesus loves everyone unconditionally, and maybe that's a good starting point.

The Man City outcome and the conviction of people like Rodri that they had deserved all that success reminds me of the Monopoly Experiment. youtu.be/bJ8Kq1wucsk?...

Whatever penalties City assume should be commensurate to the benefits they gained over the period of time they cheated. I reckon they were winning big for 15 years so points deductions over the next 15 seasons should do it. 10 or 15 points penalty per season ...
000
JS Burns @jsburns.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
I don't care about their past titles. The consequences for these violations have to be commensurate to the gains they enjoyed out of them. Man City have benefited from their cheating for at least 15 seasons. The penalties should be significant points deductions over the next 15 seasons.

The corrections for the US can't just be limited to political ones, but has to address the diverse factors, including economic and societal ones, that led us to this point. Curb the billionaires. Limit corporate power to affect our politics. Establish greater social justice for all.

One of the biggest problems for the US is how the nation elects lawyers and people from the business world instead of scientists, engineers, doctors, economists, sociologists, etc. into public offices. Bring actual knowledge and know-how back into and cut the bullshit out of US politics.

People think the oligarchs / billionaires / corporate bosses are bending the knee to Trump. They mistake the situation. The oligarchs / billionaires / corporate bosses are PAYING OFF Trump. He is their puppet and does their bidding. And he and his family get paid. The rest of us pay the price.

So they want AI and automation to replace workers. Why don't we aim for AI and automation to replace billionaires? Get an AI that cares about humanity and the planet, and let it run companies. Hrm?

That $60 NYC rye is tone deaf. Around the same time the hype about that bread was going viral, I saw something about a bottle of Japanese whiskey being auctioned for $625k ($500k + commissions). I wonder when the guillotines start coming back out. In the meantime, the rye loaves I baked today ...

They own him. He is their distraction toy. He draws our attention away from the deeply truly fucked up things the billionaires and corporations are doing to the nation. And we've done precisely what they intend for us to do. We pay attention to him, and gloss over their agenda.

It boggles the mind how deeply people misunderstand Trump's relationships with America's elites. The elites don't go to him to bend the knee; They go to him to check on their puppet. Donald Trump is a useful idiot for America's billionaires and corporations. They own him. Not the other way around.
