Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 18hYeah this is a "all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares" situation 020
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I'm just saying, when the time machines are online -- I'd watch your version happily 010
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I strongly suggest spoiling yourself. It's deranged. 000
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 04/10/2026(Sam Neill, not Sam Elliott, though I admit you sent me on a frantic google) 100
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Feels like a missed opportunity not to have their first game together in Minnesota 2421
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 22/09/2026it's kind of like building, but with absolutely no work involved. Of course he loves it. 010
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Trying to decide what rapper's voice I most enjoy this in. I'm leaning toward Luda. 000
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Besides,t he Cybertruck very well may lose power before it ever reaches you 090
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 14/09/2026cagier around the tech, or cagier around the optics of publicly embracing them? I think those are distinct even if the answer is probably "both" 100
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 14/09/2026You better be. You wouldn't want to be a "treasonist" (as differentiated from a traitor, apparently) 000
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 02/09/2026It's not disrespectful to hold an opinion. You should be respectful of (supported) countervailing views, but asking profs to stand up there and read off black letter law is a ridiculous flattening of the law school experience. I disagreed with some of my profs but I learned from engaging with them. 000
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Counterpoint: I think it's fine for academics to engage with reality. The nihilistic "who can say what is right" viewpoint IS a viewpoint. 000
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 02/09/2026The community guidelines do not use, much less define, "dogpile." Saying "no harassment" is fine, as far as it goes, but what is the principled, objective distinction between harassment and disagreement? Feels like a system guaranteed to generate disparate outcomes for different accounts 010
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 02/09/2026You may have addressed this previously, but did you get on them through your insurer or one of the compounding outfits? I've heard a lot of horror stories about insurance companies jerking people around 000
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 24/08/2026There is no world where they want to keep him past this season, so even if we are focused on on-the-field considerations this is nonsensical. Not to mention...everything else, which absolutely carries weight when picking the/a face of your franchise (I consider QB that by default, stopgap or no) 010
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Particularly fond of the guy saying this is the first open letter he's ever signed. Really? There's never been a single cause that spoke to you more than making sure this dipshit gets to be a Very Special Boy? 0100
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Yeah -- I've used it with satisfactory results to generate an issues list from a new turn of some redlines, but even then it's fallible. This isn't my insight, but the comparison to a tenacious but inexperienced law clerk or first year has roughly borne out for me. Semi-useful for first cuts only 011
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 21/08/2026I have a glut of clients right now sending me agreements drafted without lawyers, and the parties discover after the fact they're massively defective. The whole PROBLEM is the documents look good when you don't know what you're looking at. In a lot of ways "improving" models *worsen* the problem 0679
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 21/08/2026the term "what SEEMS like good advice" should scare the crap out of you. It sounds good, and confident, and reliable -- doesn't make it true! I'm a corporate attorney whose work is more LLM-friendly than most, but you have just put your finger on EXACTLY why lay people should not be doing this 1110
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 19/08/2026Even beyond that, nothing like a dictionary giving several ambiguous/conflicting possible meanings when the burden to be carried is "beyond a reasonable doubt." Oh well, it's not like the defendant knows any decent lawyers 060
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Always how I read that scene too. The novelization and the Lucas quotes are real real grim though 010
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 16/08/2026Object lesson on this: Musk insisting he needs the largest pay package in history, and then in the next breath saying money will be irrelevant in ten years. Just screamingly obvious contradiction between stated and revealed beliefs 051
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 15/08/2026My wife, who is usually much artsier in her show selections than I am, was surprisingly quick to be all in on Big Man Physically and Rhetorically Beats Up Bad Men. Allen Ritchson's actual personality is a big selling point too. 1931
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Dragon's Dogma 1 and 2 are both made-in-a-lab tailored to the things I *think* I want in a video game, and I did not like actually playing either of them. 010
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Yeah it feels like there's an implied, but nonexistent, insertion of "WRONGLY denounced themselves." Facts very much not in evidence. 011
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 11/08/2026This colorblind basketball fan begs you not to do thisstatic.klipy.comDonkey from Shrek: If I wasn't color blind!Alt: Donkey from Shrek: If I wasn't color blind! 110
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 10/08/2026I've got two toddlers. I know there will be a day where I am annoyed by them sleeping in, but I currently cannot conceive of this magical place. 130
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Côte d'Ivoire is French for "Ivory Coast." Not a whole lot of landlocked coasts...by definition. 110
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 07/08/2026There had to have been a conversation at some point that went "CLIVE, you CANNOT name him Dirk Pitt" 1100
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Earlier this year I had to disassemble a table that needed a weirdly large Allen wrench. Had the perfect fit in the sterilite tub of odds and ends my wife has been trying to throw away for years. VINDICATION 030
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 07/08/2026With absolutely no backing, I also feel like you need three for a franchise. A movie and a sequel doesn't feel like a franchise, but a movie, a prequel AND a sequel does. 110
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Right -- what I said (poorly) was premised on the idea that a law firm with say, ten times the attorneys charging ~$6k to handle an immigration matter *may* be reasonable (and even then hugely fact-specific). But with this manpower it is manifestly not reasonable. Sorry for sloppy wording before. 100
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Comes out to roughly $6k a represented child. If each person was getting competent representation, I feel like maybe yes? Of course, when each lawyer would need to be handling a caseload of over 900 cases, that's an absurdity, so at some point the calculation is meaningless. 100
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 05/08/2026It's bluesky, they were going to tell you regardless 030
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 02/08/2026That blackberry lemonade looks like a hangover that I may just have to invite 000
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Even setting aside $, many people also badly underestimate the time, work, and heartache a plaintiff goes through before that mythical "day in court" 140
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Yeah just bring me a pitcher of the blackberry lemonade and back away slowly. Probably ask them to ditch the elderflower though 000
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Not to sound like every little league coach, but 1B has to know the situation there 0310
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 31/07/2026They were. Foil-wrapped in margarine and shoved down in the coals of a campfire...came out amazing. 020
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 31/07/2026We were trolling lake trout at one point and my buddy let me borrow his one and only Rapala Tail Dancer, which dive to like 30 feet. I had nothing that dove remotely that deep, so I accepted the loan, but I was petrified the whole time I was going to lose his bait. Ended up catching my first laker! 110
Leftyhookshot @jsallen.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Earlier this summer I did a backwoods trip up to Quetico (the week before the fires) and every pike and bass up there has a doctorate in wrapping you up in fallen logs, reeds, lilypads, you name it. Incredible fishing but lost a lot of lures to all that delightful delightful cover! 120
