Mixed cellular cast (RBC’s and WBC’s, and a few tubular epithelial cells) - note the WBC’s are clearly indicated by Prescott-Brody stain whereas the tubular cells are not - in preserved urine sample from a case of GPA, stored at room temperature for 2.5 years! #UrineMicroscopy #UrinarySediment

No significance. Most casts appear flat and in one focal plane on a slide. Occasionally some will be very tortuous or coiled, which makes it difficult to see it all in focus at one time.

It is unnecessarily onerous, I agree. The log book entries with every study are the most time consuming and seemingly unnecessary aspect. Fortunately the training certification requirement is straightforward and infrequent.
