as a user of GIMP for like ten years i intimately understand why folks do not like it as a replacement for photoshop but i can say that inkscape has taken real leaps and bounds and seems to be capable of most things illustrator was able to do

a few years ago i would have been celebrating minecraft as you can see how many games absorbed the dna of minecraft and why it was so influential and how it inspired so many people to simplfy and "fix" some of its mechanics

i do think the fundamental thing he was looking for is there at the core of hobbyist games / indie darlings / breakaway successes but for sakurai or whatever associated foundation to even learn about games they have to already be widely successful i think if you want to celebrate gamedev innovation

yeah they spent millions of dev dollars on prototyping, concepting, planning, modelling but it was all just throwing darts at a wall the same company that had a consistent internal aesthetic for every 3d zelda game just sat there scrolling top rated models available on the asset store

the 3ds remasters are kind of flaming wreckages its like the square enix final fantasy ports issue pixel remasters had their own slate of issues but cleaned up a lot of garbage from the gba era hopefully they are restoring the content of the game with the oot remaster here
