J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 24/01/2026Not at the moment, no new book series on the immediate horizon for me, but thank you. 110
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 24/01/2026Thank you! Writing is, for sure, the most enjoyable for me but I do love seeing my story come to life through the eyes of an artist. It's always shocking to see the final product and go, "oh, wow! That's exactly what I dreamed out when I wrote the story!" 000
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Yeah! Hit me up on Discord any time. I love finding unique artists and commissioning them to do my covers. Both of mine for Jake's/Nova Roma had never really done book covers before and I think that really helps bring a unique style to them because the artists have their own vision already. 220

J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 15/01/2026Yeah, self-publishing can have its hard moments, but better than being trapped forever in a contract you can't break. : ( 010
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 06/01/2026Yeah, there are some really decent companies in the genre but it's a bit shocking how low some can go. 000

J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 20/12/2025There has been some revelations this week about one of the publishers in the #litrpg and #progressionfantasy spaces and how exploitative they've been to new and aspiring authors. I wrote a breakdown of just how bad their contract truly is here: old.reddit.com/r/Progressio...old.reddit.comBreakdown of just how insanely predatory that "Shadow Light Press" contract truly is - from a former lawyer turned litrpg/progfantasy authorHey everyone, J.R. J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 23/09/2025I'm getting a new cover for an omnibus edition of Portal to Nova Roma books 1-3. The amazing Daniele Turturici (who did my Jake's MM covers!) is designing it. Take a look at these beautiful art designs they came up with just to get a feel for the city of Nova Roma and my MC! #progressionfantasy 031
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 09/09/2025The first drafts for both book 4 and 5 of Portal to Nova Roma are officially DONE! I still need to do two rounds of edits and then have my editor do the same but we are getting REAL CLOSE! #litrpg #progressionfantasy 170

J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 12/02/2025One of my top ten progression fantasy series, for sure! I heard the audiobooks got cancelled because there wasn't enough interest in the series and I honestly think that's such a great shame because the series is SO GOOD everyone should be devouring it. 110
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 02/01/2025I was just told that the audiobook for Jake's Magical Market 3 is on sale if anyone was looking to pick up the conclusion to my series! It's 36 HOURS long and now on sale for just $7.99!! #litrpg #progressionfantasy #jake'smagicalmarket 130
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 03/12/2024My boomer dad will read all my reviews and then will tell me some of the more ridiculous ones like, "someone compared you to Tolkien again they are being so over the top." It's pretty funny. 000
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 03/12/2024I tend to avoid looking at reviews just to spare my own mental health but I decided to glance at Jake's Magical Market 3's audiobook reviews and it's really moving to see how much the ending of the series has connected with people. Here is one of my favorites: #litrpg #progressionfantasy 2150
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 02/12/2024Ugh, yeah. I hate the modern trend of minimalist, boring covers with just text and a nondescript swirl of color or maybe a tree branch or something sticking up behind the title. Yawnnnnnnnnnn. 000
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 02/12/2024That old chair was AMAZING. Found it at a legit second hand store and it was the comfiest thing in the world! 000
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 02/12/2024Love these old classic covers so much! They are often so magical and amazing - although I often found the story within sometimes rather disappointing growing up. The covers sparked my imagination but the stories were often generic and formulaic. (Not that I've read this specific book) 110
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 02/12/2024This old photo of my apartment from 10+ years ago popped up and I was reminded of how much I loved my old library. I used to have so many books I ran out of space and had to stack them on the floor. There are more bookshelves full of books around the corner as well! #litrpg #books 161
J.R. Mathews, Author @jrmathews.bsky.social · 02/12/2024Sadly, no firm updates yet. I'm working hard on both book 4 and 5 at the same time so it will take longer. I also am really working hard to make sure the books are as good as I can possibly make them! 010
