#OnThisDay 1794: Home Popham, attached to the British army in Flanders and a newly minted Master and Commander, writes to the Secretary at War asking to be provided with a 50-gun ship, 2 sloops of war, 6 gunboats, and 50 flat boats. Nice Christmas list. #NavalHistory #MaritimeHistory
