the San Francisco teachers' strike will, barring an overnight deal, enter Day 4 tomorrow—wages have been a major sticking point how much do teachers make vs. city-employed workers? they make less, much less: on average, almost half what nurses make, and $50K less than cops

campaign finance update: Stephen Sherrill, the appointed Marina supervisor, has fundraised more than 2x his opponent, Lori Brooke—$223K vs. $101K in direct funds, & more in PAC money & public financing plus: a GrowSF PAC raised $17K for Sherrill, mostly from his relatives

a little bit ago now, at 11PM, San Francisco police & sheriff's deputies rushed July 4 crowds in the Mission they'd been lighting fireworks near Garfield Park, as they do most years, before SFPD declared unlawful assembly they routed the crowd, at least one was arrested

several thousand marched from San Francisco City Hall today, part of a wide-ranging anti-Trump protest led by socialist groups chants focused on Palestine, immigration, women’s rights, even a unified Korea but it was mostly leftists, not a lot of liberals, & smaller than the 2016 protests

shouldn't need saying but Engardio's recall is infighting in Garry Tan's own camp—moderate/conservative San Francisco it's not the left (but given Joel's backing of Chesa's recall, it's all schadenfreude for them) it's the urbanist/YIMBY vs. conservative/car culture divide
