Today @nolacitycouncil recognized the life of a historian, a local tour guide, and a friend to many - Frank Perez Frank was a witty and selfless advocate who loved his community, and today was proof that his community loved him right back.

Today, the @nolacitycouncil officially renamed the Treme Rec Center to the Jerome Smith Treme Recreation Community Center. Additionally, at the family's request, and with support from #TambourineAndFan, we will rename Hunter's Field after Big Duck to honor his legacy at a future date.

A legacy like Jerome “Big Duck” Smith’s deserves the highest respect from the City of New Orleans. Big Duck was many things to many people. He was a Freedom Rider and civil rights leader, but also a mentor, an advocate, and a friend to all who knew him.

Happy Birthday to my mom, Cynthia Hedge-Morrell!🎉 She’s the best mom (and Grandmother) that a guy could ask for and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without the support (and sacrifices) she’s made to get me here! Everyone please join me in wishing her a happy birthday!

Demolition at Mercy Hospital is underway! The beginning of demolition is not only a major win for nearby residents, but for users of the Lafitte Greenway as well. This moment is 20+ years in the making ...

I’m incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of local LGBTQ+ historian and activist Frank Perez. Frank was a tireless advocate for his community, and my office was proud to work alongside him on a variety of projects, like the LGBT+ Archives Project of Louisiana.

Fantastic turnout in Lakeview today for Coffee With The Councilmember! ☕️ We got lots of questions about Sewerage & Water Board and Code Enforcement, but one thing was very clear: residents believe the city is moving in the right direction.

Happy Father’s Day, New Orleans! Being a dad has been the greatest adventure of my life. Some days I’m teaching my kids how to play video games, and other days they’re teaching me patience. The days can be messy, loud, and unforgettable all at once, and I’m grateful for every second of it.

Happy #PrideMonth, New Orleans! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Despite renewed attacks across the country, the LGBTQ+ community continues to be a bright light for the culture, especially in New Orleans. I'm proud that New Orleans is a safe haven for queer people, thanks to many years of advocacy from the community itself.

Sometimes it’s nice to remember that around the world, there are generational touchstones that overcome language & cultural barriers. Watching Dragonball (Z/GT/Super) & waiting to see the end of a fight over 10 episodes is 1 such touchstone. (If you don’t know about Goku, you better ask somebody.)
