So the both-siderism compares an actual candidate for higher office who doubles down on racist views with an activist podcaster who made a controversial statement. Those are equivalent?

Can't read the article for the paywall, what do they say the Democratic equivalent is to saying an entire group of people don't belong in the US?

My kid's a recent grad from a small liberal arts school and his experience was that different from my 90s experience -good teaching, connection with professors, engagement withsubjects. My professor friends at land grant schools despair about the lack of support for history and humanities teaching.

The current trade deficit is the same as early 2024 and going up. So no, not better than ever....

And of course when Dems are in office they scream bloody murder about debt and deficits to thwart actual social spending. Hypocrites all the way down

Yes, funny how irreparable harm to the administration only happens with a Republican president. Biden's clear application of clear legislative text ("waive or modify" student loans) was of course a bridge too far ..

Evacuation of U.S. troops from Mideast base sends community groups scrambling to help
Troops and their families have been pushed back to the United States after their bases in the Middle East were threatened by Iranian counterattacks. Community groups are scrambling to react.

Among all the other clusterf***s of this war, almost missed this shambolic evac of military families from Bahrain - unplanned, no military resources available, dumping responsibility on local non-profits. Example 1 billionth that Repubs don't care about troops. www.npr.org/2026/04/03/n...

ask your guest why we haven't made a blanket policy to get rid of uncontrolled crosswalks like they did on sloat boulevard only aftermultiple fatalities? Driving and walking around the city. I'm always amazed at how many uncontrolled crosswalks there are still especially across larger thoroughfares.

Funny how evangelicals have nothing to offer on issues like family formation, civic unity, etc. Those in power in red states and Congress do nothing for family leave, daycare, public education, etc but instead focus exclusively on culture war issues like trans in bathrooms and abortion.

The one truism for the entire trump-maga era: every accusation is a confession.

But it had some roots in reality. As a well off person who does all the grocery shopping, I do notice when eggs went from $4 to $6, as an example. Not Biden's fault (see bird flu), but noticeable. And big ticket items like used cars and housing also went up a lot, very visible.

I generally agree with Will that the specifics of inflation didn't drive political changes. My sense is vibeflation was a right-wing-media-driven narrative that helped change political outcomes (see how rw media studiously avoids tariff inflation).

Every accusation is a confession, coming from the true jack booted thugs who have repeatedly tried to steal numerous elections.

Note the veiled racism/classicism. "People who didn't work hard"= poor and working class people who need affordable housing, and who in his mind drag down the property values of existing homeowners. what a conundrum - how to drive down prices without letting the "wrong people" get in the door?

I (and any sentient person) knew what you meant. And maybe they should be a bit more introspective before knee-jerking. As in, if it is happening in TX how come there's no public uprising like in MN? Maybe they should get off their a** and phone and hit the streets.

Too bad he gutted the CFPB which actually protected consumers from rapacious lenders. Oh and he pardoned a bunch of financial fraudsters too...

And they win!!! How? By being clearly FOR something (vile), and actively communicating across many platforms. That's the right lesson

Let's be clear that the Rs have no compunction about both shaping public opinion (see trans panic, election security, economic ruin) often with a flood of lies and disinformation, and ignoring public opinion and ramming through unpopular policies ( abortion, health care, tax cuts for billionaires).

Fundamental lack of knowledge that trade deficits are not a subsidy.....actually shows the opposite, that we NEED (ie consume) more of their goods and services than they need from us ...
