I decided to let a bad review inspire this podcast.. But everything I do, I do for a reason. There's thinking behind it, some limitations I hope to work on at some point. I'll get to those separately. But let's discuss something that's important. What's The Formula? Every podcast has a formula. Good ones practice it religiously. Mine has evolved a lot.

So this month I've had two really cool successes on my writing/publishing front. I'm going to get my writing one out of the way before talking about a really cool book yours truly edited. I wrote another article for Typebar Magazine. It's my second article for them, and my third article this year. I love science fiction but noticed a trend about science fiction delving more and more in the past.

Sci-fi started out as pulp. Should it return to its roots?

So I went to the Art Gallery of Ontario and I think I'm going to share photos of it while I talk about this. So I saw a couple of exhibitions that were quite good. I also kind of want to reinterate my mission statement this year. So I figure, why not do both? So this is from Yayoi Kusama's…

In my many confrontations with people that I've tried to get on my podcast, I've heard many nos. Some of them are very honest about the whole process. I've had wonderful people just frankly not want to do it. Honestly, that's a pure as you can get. I can't really argue with it, and I'm not in the business of making people do what you want.

Catching Up With a Friend at the end of the campaign

So I'm writing this as I'm getting feedback now from my readers in regards to the next two releases. One of them is a re-release of the Cloud Diver. I'm going through the process of getting it read, and fortunately I have a plethora of readers giving me feedback. I want the next version to be on par with what I'm working on with the sequel (book 3 this year), so I'm taking advantage of it.

Wordpress Version So I’m back at Bare Oaks for the summer. I’ve been traveling for the past week so I thought I would take a moment to catch up with my readers. Fire dancing in Tulum is going to come out next monday on the substack. It’s written. I’ve just been on the road and getting ready for the summer.

Sometimes you just have to go with classics. Classic literature isn’t something that you see in comics as much, but us old school collectors remember those cl

How my enjoyment of Playa Del Carmen Got Cut Short

A quieter place to enjoy life

Does anyone actually care about what you do? Sometimes when you post the things you post, you hope to hear responses. You want things to move quickly. And often, when you start, you hear nothing. I've handed in my third article for a magazine this year. I've started work on an interview for a fourth article, but since, I have heard nothing but silence when I try to pitch anything.

Pero Estoy Apprendiendo

The First Impression of Mexico

Yes. I said books. My next release is going to be a re-release. The Cloud Diver was something I'm proud of. Lance Buan is the illustrator and both of us kind of want to do something indie and fun. Science fiction for the most part is a popcorn and cotton candy environment these days. I'm adding my own unique flavor. One of these entries I'll have do a proper writing about Terry Pratchett.

What I Learned About Crafting A Comic Page So this graphic novel I've been working on has been a challenge. It's not a traditional comic book, as it's more like the graphic stuff is sprinkled in. I've talked about using my limitations to tell a story. What I'm going to talk about here is what I learned doing a page.

Tim Chizmar and Keight Leighn Make Magic Happen

In keeping a promise for the year, this is the first breakthrough for the year writing wise. This is my first paid published article of the year (won't be the last either) . This is me writing about the Stan Lee reality show Who Wants To Be A Superhero? courtesy of Typebar Magazine. I've updated the Publication History section of my site to include the article.

The Difference in Art So right now I'm in Vegas, counting down to next week to start moving again. While I'm waiting, I'm working. I've been pitching (and so far, succeeding) at getting articles out there. I'm also trying to keep my word and write about my writing this year as that's more of a focus. I have plans for the second half of the year/early next year.

There Are No Small Roles...

So I want to talk about the secret origins of my illustrations before I talk about the graphic novel. You see, I needed to do stuff during 2020 to get out of my head. The pandemic affected us all. That said, I was terrified of drawing. I was afraid I would suck. Then one day a thought entered my head and it changed my entire perspective on art in general.

Mid Life Crisises, and Making Money as a Writer

My Acting Debut This October Not words I expected to write. Acting debut. But it's true. Last October I spent a week in Sacramento California doing my first time in front of a camera crew doing a skit. I'm not going to spoil too much this year about the plot. There's a little preview online you can look at, which I will link here, but for the most part this is 80s horror camp in the best way.

What's coming, What I hope is coming, and The Mission Happy New Year everyone. I'm still in Guatemala and will be for another few days as I head towards mexico. I'm making one last stop in Xela. I made myself a promise and dang it, I'm doing it this weekend before I cross into Mexico. This last couple of months taught me an awful lot about traveling and…

Trust In Your Journey I really should try to write here a little more often. In fact, that's the only real new year's resolution I'm going to talk about in this blog. I've been writing quite a bit. You can check out my substack (which has a deal on until Dec.31st if you want to be a premium subscriber.) I've been traveling.
