Absolutely true, but when you have a president who doesn't give a shit about the Constitution or the law, and he owns Congress and SCOTUS, it becomes a moot point.

In the seventies, Republicans realized that if they served the interests of the rich, the rich would return the favor with campaign donations. Reagan solidified this, but Dems understood the same thing and felt they had to compete for money from the rich instead of fighting for the people.
