I feel like every Toy Story movie is engineered to give kids nightmares. Today's kids got the iPad villain while we had this growing up. (Still feel bad for those poor toys. I hope they found their happy place.)

I'll say it here, listening to an audiobook is just as valid as reading. Whatever can get people into books, I welcome. Everyone should be able to enjoy the media they like in whatever form it might take. We all love books, and that's what matters.

I support trans people. When I say that, I mean, HRT for all, sports, bathrooms, standing against anything related to TERFs, transition means changing sex, and make all trans-related medical needs essential healthcare (and free as all healthcare should be). 🏳️‍⚧️This flag don't fall🏳️‍⚧️

I have a theory. The best Final Fantasy games all have furry party members. Thus, if Square Enix includes a furry party member in their next mainline game, it will be an instant classic.

That feeling when we got the "AIs ruin the planet" sci-fi instead of the "Exploring the universe" sci-fi.

Tron from Kingdom Hearts 2 massively stretched while looking directly at the camera with a serious face.

Sometimes, I get nostalgic for PS2 graphics. Something about that specific era where graphics had advanced from blocky PS1 models, but still hadn't tread into the refined style of the PS3 era, still holds a special place in my heart.

Screenshot from Star Ocean 3 with its main character with blue hair and white shirt, Fayt, and heroine with brown hair and top, Sophia, standing in a simulation room with metallic surfaces. A dialogue box has Fayt saying, "...Shall we go? There's nothing left to do here, anyway."

You know you're old when you tell a Pokemon fan, "Gotta Catch 'Em All!" and they explain to you how you can in fact not catch them all rather than getting the reference to a slogan that died in gen 3.

Cats are life's way of telling you to take a break. Cat at your door? Stay inside. Cat on your laptop? No work. Cat on you while in bed? Don't bother getting up.

I was once told that if you haven't cut your book down by at least 10% during editing, you haven't done enough, and gosh, does that hold up. My 115 000 word novel went down to 95 000 and nothing of value was lost. So, keep on cutting, peeps. It's worth it.

I have returned from writing my newest novel. I'll be pitching it for this year's DVpit event, so look forward to seeing it when the time comes! Also, hope everyone's all doing well here on Bluesky. I'll be doing my usual lighthearted posting again, so here's to keeping things chill and fun!

If you are heading into the query process looking for a traditional agent for your new novel, you will be asked for comps. You shouldn't use books released more than 3 years ago. Your comps should be fresh and good sellers, and be in the right subgenre for your novel. #writingcommunity #booksky

Did a test setup for the table layout 🥰 Ready for the book fair 🤩 (Candles are LED 🕯️) I've decided to give away all the cards with the out-of-print cover. I'll also bring a few books of that edition for the collectors. ~Spicy & Steamy book event, Amsterdam Rai, Oct 4. spicysteamybookevent.nl 🌈📚💙🌶️📚

A photo of a book fair table layout. In the front are 3 boxes with cards, labeled free. Next to it is an artwork featuring a blue man with feathery wings.
In the middle are various magnets and next to it a box with bookmarks.
Behind that are 2 book stands. The left has a book open, showcasing the formatting and internal art. It has a label stating, in Dutch, look inside copy. Behind this book are 2 black LED candles. The right stand has 2 closed books, 1 to showcase the front cover and the other the back.
In the back are 2 platforms. The left showcases the bookmark and an artwork printed on wood. To the right are stickers and cards, all featuring the character art of the front and back cover.

Sometimes I think back to the first time I went to a library. How magical it felt. Even now, I still feel nostalgic for those times. Glad to know the one from my childhood is still around and inspiring young people. #BookSky

A video game trope that always gets me is the "Character gets into bed with their default clothing". Like, bro, you're lying down with a full suit of armor and those dirty boots? No wonder you left your mom's house to go on an adventure. You got no cleanliness, no decency, and no pajamas.

What defines a slow-burn can mean different things to different people. For me, a slow-burn is plenty of build-up to a kiss by the end of a novel. More intimate stuff can come in the sequels. #BookSky
