I have not posted any Pokémon watch updates in a long while. It's been 15 months since I started, and yesterday I watched the first episode of Season 7 "Advanced Challenge." This is part of the "Ruby and Sapphire" series. 315 episodes and four movies down. Still a long ways to go!

This comic book "influencer" the other night during a live stream declaring with such 🧐 scholar panache that "comic books don't get Spider-Man right" but the most recent movie does. Couldn't find that Close Window button fast enough. ❌

1. Satellite-era Justice League And finally, this is my favorite team of all time... la crème de la crème... the standard against which all else is measured. In my head-canon, this team peaked from JLoA #128 (Wonder Woman's return) through JLoA Annual #2 (team disbands). Artwork by George Pérez

030

JoséV @jovcaste.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

2. Satellite-era Justice Society Being able to see this Earth-Two group during the annual team-ups was always a highlight. This exact line-up, right here, was phenomenal. I also include Infinity Inc. and the pre-crisis All-Star Squadron. Artwork by George Pérez

3. Bronze-age Legion My other babies. From [Superboy and] the Legion of Super-Heroes #222 through Magic Wars, and the modern 2010-2011 Lightning Saga retroboot team. Artwork by George Pérez

030

JoséV @jovcaste.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

4. Pantheon JLA. From JLA #1 (New World Order) through JLA #41 (World War Three). This team is simply impeccable. Includes Connor Hawke and Queen Hippolyta. Artwork by Mr. Howard Porter.

5. Outback X-Men. My babies! From the Mutant Massacre through Dissolution (Uncanny X-Men #211-#269). I also include Polaris (Malice) in this era. Artwork by the superb @brettbooth.bsky.social

6. Leather jacket-era Avengers. (Roughly Avengers #334-389). The jackets started making rounds after Galactic Storm. Anyway, this team was a total bad@$$. I also include Thunderstrike, Quicksilver, and maybe Swordsman & Magdalene. Artwork by Steve Epting and Tom Palmer.

030

JoséV @jovcaste.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

7. The Crossing-era Avengers. (Avengers 390-402). I know it is an era disliked by most, but I liked the large team roster and Mike Deodato Jr's artwork.

9. Gold-Blue era X-Men. (Roughly from Uncanny #281 through #314 and Adjectiveless #1 through #34). I consider Jubilee and Revanche part of the Blue Team as well, and Forge kinda-sorta part of the Gold Team? Artwork by J. Scott Campbell and Jim Lee

I am going to double down on this post, to include nice artwork by classic artists. 10. The X-treme X-Men. (Specifically issues 1-24, when the search for Destiny's diaries was in full swing.) Artwork by Salvador Larroca and Edgar Delgado.

After this post from @monarchdafey.bsky.social I got into detective mode, because that was not at all the spread from X-Force #16 (1992) I remembered, but it had the title and credits. As it turns out, Greg Capullo did two versions of this scene, and the Gambit/Feral one was published. Cool!

I can't believe it's already been TWENTY years (that's 20) since "Rise and Fall of the Shi'Ar Empire" came out. After the letdown that the "Blood of Apocalypse" arc was, it was really cool seeing the #XMen and #Starjammers together again. Artwork by Billy Tan, Danny Miki, Frank D'Armata.

This could definitely bring me back to the X-Men ever since the Krakoa era ended. Tony Daniel? ✔️ Captain Betsy? ✔️ Firestar's third stint with the X-Men? ✔️ A Storm-led team? ✔️ It will be interesting to see Vance as the newbie, and how his powers differ from Betsy's. Count me in! #XMen #MaximumXMen
