I know, I was hoping you wouldn't notice... but it's the only gif of Star Trek: Generations I had to hand, at least with the Enterprise-D intact! 😅 Perhaps I can make it up to you with this glimpse of what might have been...

She looked magnificent in Generations – and rightly so they used the 6ft model, which always looked the best out of any physical representation of the ship.

It may be blasphemy, but I've always loved these single-nacelle designs 🖖

Yeah, McCoy is a man whose righteous anger is quiet. The quieter he gets, the more dangerous he is. If he’s silent and still then you’re in real trouble. The times he’s being directed to be loud and/or violent fall flat as a result because it comes across as forced, and almost cartoonish.

Looks like something out of SeaQuest DSV... 😳 Mind you, there were some weird and wonderful concepts for Voyager early on. The final ship seems positively conservative in comparison.

I think there's points when directors either don't really understand the script, or simply gives McCoy direction that doesn't suit him. But there's moments like the cafe scene in Remembrance, or his intense moments in Fenric and his remorse at manipulating Ace afterwards, where he's mesmerising.

It's not even sadness It's just nothing Like the volume's turned down on life itself No real highs No crashing lows Just... existence You're going through the motions Smiling when expected Replying when needed But inside it's all flat Like you're watching your life play out from a distance

I like Star Trek: The Final Frontier. I'd also suggest Star Trek: Galaxy...

Exactly this. It's still the gold standard by which Star Trek series are judged. Even TOS doesn't get that, even if Kirk and Spock are arguably the franchise's most archetypal characters.

Hate it when people do this. "I'd like the beef but I had beef yesterday". And!? I've sometimes eaten exactly the same meal three times a day for multiple days. If you like it, eat it.

33 years ago today, the Stranger stepped onto the dock of Myst Island for the first time. We can still hear the water splashing against the pilings.

The dock of Myst Island from the original version of the game. A wooden dock ends at a spiral staircase that leads up to giant gears on a hillside. A ship is sunk in the water on the right, and parts of buildings are visible on the left.

Do you include the abandoned cover for "Christmas on a Rational Planet" that made the 7th Doctor look like Jasper Carrott?

My headcanon for the Sutherland, which was in for repairs when she was recruited into Picard's fleet, is that its bridge wasn't available and so a temporary command centre was built instead. It's why the back wall looks like a server rack and the consoles appear to be temporary portable units.

I'm intrigued as to why the Enterprise-A galley needs a rack of servers... is it for food processing? 🤪

I remember an old project somewhere where someone added a MacBook logic board into an external hard drive enclosure to make a "Mac Pro Ultra Mini": theawesomer.com/diy-mac-pro-... Sadly looks like the original site has been deleted 😔

I understand the ILM guys loved making this sequence because they hated working with the Enterprise model, since it was so large and complex... they honestly thought they were bidding it farewell forever...
