As I have explained to excess in these replies: we need to vote for the people who will elect a Dem. for Speaker. The speaker decides what comes to the floor for a vote. It also means controlling the committees, which decide what laws even get considered.

I believe that point comes when there are no longer enough good people in power to protect us. We need to give those people the best chance possible to protect us. That means the most important thing to focus on is who controls the house; not the abhorrent opinions of any given candidate.

I was a teenager, but I remember Bush campaigning in 2004 on a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage (many states were already doing it). I wasn’t in the community then, but shit had to look pretty bleak. I certainly didn’t expect 11 years later we’d have legalized marriage nationally.

He is a villain, but he’s also right. Increasing tax revenue doesn’t change the fact that we spend fuck all on things like schools, but give huge defense contracts to people like him. Increasing taxes on people like him is hardly even a start of what needs to be done. But it is a start.
