Occasional incoherent ramblings Sometimes Lib Dem 🔶️, sometimes sporty 🏏⚽️, from Brighton 📌 🏳️‍🌈

Really struggle with this line from Ed & the party Whilst not technically wrong that Brexit made it harder to return asylum seekers, it does feel a bit like our messaging should be 'no, migrants aren't all evil, we should treat them better' rather than just 'we'd be better at sending them back'...

Well this is The Level in Brighton at 8:15pm. I guess all The Patriots must have gone home for their supper

To have Lib Dems queueing up to lead the charge in defending fundamental rights, including LGBT rights, is exactly as it should be. Well done to all involved, as well as all those (including @pluslibdems.bsky.social) who have continued to push on this.

Fair to say I've been critical of @libdems.org.uk for a while now on not being open & proud about our genuine liberal positions, but Ed Davey's letter & yesterday in parliament on the EHRC guidance have been fantastic We must stop being timid over these issues, we must stand up for what we believe

So the Sex Matters reason for banning trans women from darts is essentially.... 'men go to pubs' Such feminists

This is a frame from one of the videos. I really don't know how else it can be described other than a masked thug executing someone on the ground at point blank range. It's insane.

This from the BBC is *insane* framing, to anybody watching. He's not remotely 'come out swinging', he's low energy, muted and rambling. I do wonder how much of the myth of Trump among his supporters come from people who never actually see him speak, just see the sensationalist media language

This from the BBC is *extremely* weird framing. He hasn't 'come out swinging', he's come out very low energy, muted & rambling I wonder whether Trump supporters ever actually watch him when he's like this, or do they just see the sensationalist meda language and assume he's energetic & forceful?

This is absolutely fucking outrageous. Labour literally just cancelling elections after candidates have already been announced and campaigning started, because they know they're going to lose them.

Not only that, but trying to define spaces by biological sex, but then also explicitly saying that perception may be a defining factor, seems specifically designed to simply tell trans people of all identities to fuck off from normal life. It's incoherent, cruel and outright disingenuous.

On top of that, businesses can explicitly refuse to provide any provisions for trans people, explicitly excluding them from equal access, simply by deeming the financial costs to be too high? This coming from a body supposed to stand up for and *defend* minority rights? Hmm...

Josh @joshwoolcott.bsky.social · 19/11/2025
The article frames this as simply 'trans people can be excluded based on how they look'. But by definition, if doubts over how feminine someone looks is the deciding factor, then masculine-looking *cis women* will inevitably also find themselves getting challenged and banned from women-only spaces.

Good to see this is all going very well and isn't at all (inevitably) being reduced to political point-scoring...

Genuinely fascinated at this mindset. If the Tory Party of the last few years has left you as it swung wildly right, but Reform is a more attractive proposition, what on earth sort of journey have you been on?

Josh @joshwoolcott.bsky.social · 18/09/2025
Yeah, this is not going well

Nope. Looks like Zarah has tried to set something up, but the rest haven't authorised or agreed it.

This is exactly what our party needs to realise. We've been far too shy since the election, scared to upset potential voters If Lib Dems dont vocally lead the fight against Reform's rhetoric nobody will, and voters will assume they must be right. We must not sleepwalk into a far right government

Well, this doesn't seem unhinged at all... I wonder if Trump knows what he'd consider Iran's surrender to even look like.

It really is staggering to see parliament delegating to the courts, especially when the courts are charged only with interpreting what parliament decides. It's especially staggering when the court goes to pains to explicitly state that it is not ruling on the definition of 'woman'.

Josh @joshwoolcott.bsky.social · 22/04/2025
So I see Starmer has said "A woman is an adult female, and the court has made that absolutely clear" Except, the court did not say that. In fact, it went out of it's way to make abso-fucking-lutely clear that it was not saying that. The political cowardice is shameful.

We are concerned for the welfare of Mr. Farage. Nobody has seen nor heard from him in over 24 hours. Please, if found, return to Donald J. Trump, The White House, Washington.

Seen this framing a few times from the BBC, but they need to do better. Just saying 'Ukraine say it's impossible to hold elections' as if the alternative point is legitimate is rubbish. They should make clearer that Ukraine's position on elections is objectively true, and that Russia are wrong.

I mean I know the Mail has a proud history of openly supporting fascists but this, as the leading headline on their app, is pretty abhorrent even for them.
