Hot off the heels of #Budgie 10.10.3, working on an item for 10.10.4 since we already have some fixes lined up for it. Automatic hide & dock mode has been...quirky from the move between Budgie 10.9.x to 10.10.x, so this work is intended square away as much of that as possible! youtu.be/UlU262Yeg-I

I have now submitted for inclusion #Budgie Desktop from @buddiesofbudgie.bsky.social to @aerynos.com 🥳 I fully expect that it will undergo thorough review and there'll be some fixes I need to do (new to packaging for #aerynOS specifically), but we're closer to the finish line!

My understanding is the chunked OCIs used for updates land around or at the same time standard "stable" updates land in Bodhi / into the Fedora repos.

Will also be updating my local set of Budgie Desktop packages + deps for aerynOS tomorrow and get that submitted for review!

I've now updated the #Budgie Desktop stack to 10.10.3 in #Fedora 46 (rawhide). Will sanity check it on the nightly ISO and assuming all looks good, I'll merge it into Fedora 45 tomorrow and check if I need to file any exceptions to get it landed for the release.

I know quite a few folks have been asking for it and well, here it is (coming soon). #Budgie Desktop packaged up and running on #aerynOS. Budgie 10.10.3 is right around the corner, so I'll be holding off on submitting it until we ship that within the next couple weeks.

Favorites are FINALLY coming to Budgie Menu in #BudgieDesktop 10.10.3. Great option for those of you that use the legacy / "simple" tasklist 🥳 I'm still polishing up the code, but I'll be submitting it over the weekend and will be in the upcoming 10.10.x release. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPsG...

Been binging content from Media Division on YouTube as of late. Insanely good production quality and in-depth videos if you're interested in #cinematography. There's plenty of slop on YouTube and plenty of golden nuggets. This is one of those nuggets. Highly recommended.

I already have one that I've used for streaming, so don't really need another, but this'll be one of the best deals you can find on it. For Linux users, elgato4k-linux from github.com/13bm/elgato4... worked flawlessly with it. Used it for streaming Budgie Desktop development.

Heads up for those in Finland, if you're looking for a really solid external capture device, in this case the Elgato Game Capture 4K S, Gigantti has a really good deal on it at the moment. Currently 140e, usually 180e+ (depending on the store). www.gigantti.fi/product/gami...

Deep in the edit of my #Jolla Phone 2 review. Sooooon (TM). #SailfishOS

Someone made a really great, native Sailfish OS app for Immich and it inspired me to finally get it set up on my home server. Really handy for automatic photo and video backup! Immich and this app are really great pieces of kit. #JollaPhone #SailfishOS

Not bad for a "camera slider" being...an IKEA table with the camera sitting on another piece of wood...being manually pushed across the table 😁 On editing side, I used Resolve's "Optical Flow" retiming and "Enhanced Better" motion estimation, as well as "similarity" mode stabilization #JollaPhone

Currently thinking: - Hero shots in 6K24fps, N-RAW + N-LOG Normal - Normal in 5k24fps, H.265 + N-LOG Cuts down my average from 1490Mbps (HIGH) to 750Mbps for Hero and normal shots clear from 1490Mbps to 340Mbps. Of course "normal" is then 10-Bit instead of 12-Bit but I can live with that.

There's nothing quite like realizing how truly little data storage you actually have... after recording RAW + N-LOG HIGH video at 1490Mbps. I have suddenly taken a great interest in knowing every detail of N-LOG HIGH vs NORMAL, and the meaningful quality differences to H.265.

Adding account restrictions and tacky branding text to try to upsell Pro, that is unfortunate. Wish you folks the best in trying to make a living off an otherwise solid app, hopefully you'll reconsider those regressions and add alternative features to Pro to better differentiate it and sell it.

Joshua Strobl @joshuastrobl.social · 24/05/2026

Test shots with the Helios 44 at f/2 (snails) and f/2.8 (dandelion and tree). Absolutely love the bokeh and swirl! I mean, that is half the reason why I and everyone else gets the lens after all...
