My most recent such encounter: a longtime friend insisted (on FB, for like the third time in a week) that anyone who posted pictures of their children on the platform was either a pedophile or pedophile sympathizer. Just some absolutely brain-rotted people out there among all kinds.

Realize this is a narrow niche and that my Bluesky account doesn’t cater to it, but putting this here in hopes of getting a boost outside of Twitter (where my audience is very much interested in this). All boosts welcome! #sports #kentucky #preps #highschool
Throwing this out into the world, no promises of follow-up. Two questions:
1 What would YOU want to see from an independent newsletter focused on KY HS sports? What do you want to read/hear/ watch?
2
What's the most YOU would pay for
such a thing?
OK, so I guess that's technically three questions but whatever. No wrong answers.
Please share! Would love a wide array of opinions from across Kentucky.

Spread out over a year, what Lorenz spends on AI tools is about 1/10 of my take-home salary lmao I reckon this is actually FAR more common than not among independent journalists, which fucking blow on so many levels
From a Q&A with Taylor Lorenz, answer is hers

How much do you spend on AI tools every month?
Probably about $300 a month.

This is wildly impressive for MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. Catch-22 of sorts: it probably does nothing approaching this kind of number without going into the theaters (and having the crazy-big marketing push that came along with that). Rather Amazon blow its wad on this stuff than AI shit, at least.
The He Man movie, which flopped in theaters, was the most popular film or show in ALL of streaming during its first week on Prime Video.
Marketing works!

While I loathe how this played out re: the generative AI junk … … on what grounds does a fan artist have to stand re: their work being used in a way that isn’t approved when the person/company using it is the one who turns a blind eye to their IP being used freely by that artist?

We were 10% complete with post when we got the C&D. After that all post was managed by Playmates under the direction of Hasbro. When we were in charge it was important to us that we got permission from all artists. That's why TokuJay was involved. The project will never reach its full vision due to the C&D but we are grateful that Hasbro agreed to release something.

Eninjakidztv Thank you for reaching out. I share your disappointment that this project suffered as a result of legal proceedings. It is lost in the conversation about Al use, but actors, filmmakers, and crew did real work on the project. I have a deep and abiding love for Power Rangers, which I'm sure is shared by some or all of those involved in filming.
As it stands, the Ninja Kidz TV name is currently associated with and listed as the property owner of a film that uses my designs without permission. Please raise this matter through your internal channels so that we can resolve the issue.

Speculative stuff aside — seems unrelated to me, FWIW — this sounds fucking cool. And given the directors’ ages … yeah, it’s probably gonna draw heavily from Power Rangers/toku/etc.
In the latest edition of his newsletter, industry insider Jeff Sneider addressed the recent news of Disney+ cancelling a live-action Power Rangers series. Sneider speculated that Power Rangers being scrapped might have had something to do with The Daniels’ next film, which he said is “basically a Power Rangers movie … without the name.” According to Sneider, the film “follows a young cast in color-coded costumes who team up to fight kaiju with the help of a superhero-esque character played by Damon, who has a Jarvis-like AI assistant played (not just voiced) by [Sandra] Oh.” Sneider makes a point to mention that this movie “has no official connection to Power Rangers” but comparisons will definitely be made.

It’s obnoxious that folks in the replies to this are painting a reporter as some big AI truther/a big fat liar when he’s just … sharing fucking facts/stories about an industry he covers??? Like, you can (and probably should) hate the tech but like … being belligerent about it is baby stuff.
MATTHEW BELLONI: Well, there's two types of AI, as you know. There's generative AI, which is content creation and things like that, and then there's what I refer to as the corporate AI, like streamlining processes and better search results. Obviously, on the second one, everyone is using it.

I'm not going to name a name, but I heard a very interesting story about a very prominent showrunner who went into the writer's room and basically castigated her writing team for not using ChatGPT to help with the process. To help with the creative process? Or the admin and bookkeeping?

The creative process. Here's a scenario, suggest some jokes. Here's this, this, this. It doesn't mean they use them. You could do the same thing with Google. It's just better, and people are using it. I know, I've talked to screenwriters who use it to suggest scenarios or to give a description of the inside of a building where they want a scenario to play out, or things that to me seem like part of the process.

You may not know this, but the Writers Guild is actually OK with that. As long as there is a credited writer on every script and that this process doesn't impact jobs, they're OK with the use of this technology.

This just in, Warner Bros. executives live under a rock! www.nytimes.com/2026/06/28/b...
Still, box office analysts on Sunday noted an uncomfortable truth: Female-led superhero movies have been rejected almost uniformly over the past five years or so, perhaps reflecting a resurgent misogyny among the core fan base, which is largely male. Before its release, “Supergirl” became caught up in a now-familiar cycle of online abuse, with some fanboys attacking Milly Alcock’s casting and appearance. Warner Bros. executives said they were surprised by both the ferocity of the backlash and its reach, believing the culture had evolved past that sort of campaign.

Multi-billion dollar corporations: Hey what if instead of spending our ample fortune to materially improve this shitty experience, we spent it on really stupid stuff to distract you from how shitty we’re treating you!

“Imagine like giant animatronic robot [say, perhaps, Optimus Prime?] walking around in a theme park and entertaining guests as they’re waiting in line. Suddenly, your one hour wait in line becomes a really fun and delightful and engaging experience,” she says. “Imagine you’re waiting on hold for a customer service agent playing a voice game of Trivial Pursuit. Suddenly, you wouldn’t mind your 10 minute wait. You might actually be like, ‘wait, I haven’t finished.’ At its most basic, there storytelling experiences with infinite branches, where, because these experiences are new and additive, they’re dynamic, they’re personalized. You can take a story in any direction.”
