Agree on 1st principles, sorta. But isn't this a case where the burden of evidence is heavily on those arguing for? It also seems relevant that there are many prominent voices aligned w the industry arguing yes with arguments that seem v weak if you have any grounding in theories of consciousness.

from what i can tell Tenn has no legal framework for this. But I know historically there have been jurisdictions where if they try a couple times and it doesn't work maybe you don't go free but like it's taken as God making his will clear and that's it.

Yes! Even in the more computational parts of neuroscience it seems to be considered something close to a given that if it is possible to make computers self-aware (i'm highly dubious but who knows) that those computers wld need some form of embodiment.
