6/7 🧠 The findings challenge the idea of "flood amnesia", suggesting the housing market has moved beyond amnesia-driven rebound effects towards sustained repricing of flood risk. #FloodRe #Environment #Policy #Research #Academia

5/7 💵 This matters because flooding is not only a short-term repair-cost issue, but a longer-term financial risk with implications for homeowners, housing market liquidity, mortgage lending, insurance and climate adaptation. #climate #climatechange #climateimpacts #insurance

4/7 ⏳ We also find that flood-affected homes are owned for longer than comparable homes in unaffected areas. This effect is especially pronounced among lower-priced homes. #mortgage #lending #policy #banking #insurance

3/7 📉 We find that flood-affected homes can experience persistent reductions in value. Flooded properties typically lose around 3% of their value immediately, rising to around 10% after 15 years. Aggregated, this represents £5.6 billion in loss of value. #Property #Finance #Flooding #Flood
