A choice also, that they presented January 6 in great detail in the film but also never said Trump's name. It was all just "him" and "he just posted again" lol

Also clear that a lot of businesses will veer towards open weight models as they become "good enough" at a much lower cost than frontier models and I think this is where the whole bubble lies. That's just a bit of it but anyway.

The AI sector introduced a let's say novel argument that if they had to pay to licence copyright works they'd also have to talk to spam emailers because spam email is covered by copyright. I feel the government is leaning towards finding a break but not clear how yet

Josh Taylor @joshtaylor.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
But creators see that any weakening of copyright to allow training will allow Australia to become a backdoor way for AI training on copyright works and potentially disrupting ongoing lawsuits in the US.

It seems (from an outside observer position) that the inquiry will come to a recommendation on copyright and the government will use that to break what they see as a "stalemate". Creators aren't getting paid now, and AI companies aren't training here. The government really wants the latter.

Not sure this is quite a use case for giving an AI agent access to your inbox and bank account because you're too lazy to open the app and see "oh Github charge".
LinkedIn post:

Who's had one of those moments where a notification about a suspicious transaction makes you a little nervous, especially when you've had a card compromised a few months earlier? That was me the other morning.
I've recently been playing around with OpenAl's Dots and have set up my autonomous Al agent, Dottie. Using signals available through my email and an open banking integration, Dottie checked the transaction and found a matching GitHub receipt that explained the charge, all without me having to ask.
You don't need a big, complex use case for Al to be helpful. Sometimes the win a handful of small tasks taken off your hands is enough.

I don't think this means all will - it violates their TOS already but I could see X, for example, allowing it - and X loves a legal fight with eSafety.

Horrified obviously, but it has occurred to me that eSafety would require platforms hosting the footage to block it in Australia, I would think. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

Saw a prominent tech reporter have a mea culpa and say he's going back to posting on X as it's where the tech conversations are, so I opened it up to see what I was missing and was immediately presented with an AI video of Hanson making out with a prominent right wing blogger. I'll be alright.

OpenAI’s Medicare attack has exposed Australia’s ‘tech debt’. Fixing it could bring a big bill for taxpayers
Home affairs department orders all federal government agencies to conduct review of ‘legacy technology’ amid fallout from AI agent hacks * Get our breaking news email, free app or daily news podcast The Australian government faces significant “tech debt” that could bring a big bill for taxpayers after the OpenAI Medicare breach, as government agencies will need to fortify their defences against future attacks by AI agents. This week, the home affairs department ordered all federal government agencies to conduct a “legacy technology stocktake” that requires a plan for each agency to “reduce legacy technology systems” to a level within the agency’s risk tolerance and appetite, the direction stated.
