Columbia will continue to offer its Master of Science programs in Journalism and Data Journalism. Current M.A. students are not affected by the pause. The estimated cost of attendance for the nine-month M.A. for the 2026-2027 year is roughly $120,000. The M.S. costs around $130,000 and the year-long M.S. in Data Journalism costs about $180,000. According to Columbia, around 80% of students receive some sort of financial aid.

Coming off the heels of a Day of Atonement, I am astonished that a sitting Senator who tried to play gotcha with a former prosecutor and so nakedly failed couldn't/wouldn't apologize. Republicans are both cruel and embarrassing.
Within moments, those claims fell apart and Senator Amy Klobuchar, a Minnesota Democrat, was demanding an apology by Mr. Schmitt that never arrived.

Chapek explaining that a lot of decisions he made were the end result of years-in-the-making-decisions that predate him, while also saying 'yeah, i screwed up here and here.' But what I love is the conspiracy fodder: Who are "they"?? variety.com/2026/biz/new...
Do you wish, looking back, you had initially come out with a strong statement of support for LGBTQ people?

I think what I did originally was the appropriate course of action for the Walt Disney Company, not necessarily my own personal beliefs, but was the right course of action for the Walt Disney Company. But suffice it to say that there’s a lot of powers that influence what decision a CEO makes and what statement a CEO makes. Anyone who thinks that that that’s made in a vacuum would know that’s significantly mischaracterizing the situation.

Who are the powers to be that influenced that decision?

People that have influence over those decisions within the company. I’m going to keep it generic.Tell me about your firing of Peter Rice. He was Disney’s head of general entertainment. This was June 2022, and you promoted Dana Walden to replace him. I don’t think you discuss Peter Rice in your book. What happened there? It surprised people.

It surprised people. But Peter’s a great executive, long track record of success, and great history. It just furthered the direction that the company wanted to go at the time. It was deemed that they wanted to go with Dana as the leader, and you know, Dana and Peter were sort of two people doing essentially similar things. So it was as simple as that.

You said “they” wanted to go with Dana. Who’s “they”?

Well, there’s more to a decision like this. It’s not that I wake up one day and say, “Oh, I think I’m going to do this.” There’s a lot of people we consult with.

July 2026: WHCA beings Trump back to its WHCD, which was postponed because of potential assassination attempt on the president during the April event Sept 2026: Trump band CNN, MSNOE, and Politico from the White House; WHCA releases this message.
The president said it plainly in the Oval Office, describing his own planned action as a "ban on the free press."
The Constitution protects the freedom of the press from government interference. That protection does not depend on whether the president likes a news organization's coverage, agrees with its reporting, or approves of the questions its journalists ask.
This is about more than the rights of journalists.
It is about the right of the American people to receive a full and independent account of the activities, policies and decisions of whoever occupies the nation's highest office.
The WHCA stands in defense of our colleagues at CNN, MSNOW, and POLITICO who are being singled out for doing their jobs.
Jacqui Heinrich, WHCA President

PSEG (NJ power company) is getting rid of an EV charging plan where EV owners paid half rate to charge cars between the off-peak hours of 9pm and 6am.
Dear PSE&G EV Customer,
On October 1, 2026, PSE&G's Electric Vehicle (EV) Off-Peak Charging Credit Incentive will be discontinued. This change does not affect the Make-Ready Incentive Program, which will remain available.
What does this change mean for me?
If you are currently receiving the off-peak charging credit, your credit will automatically end on October 1, 2026, and no action is required. If you are not currently receiving the off-peak charging credit, this change will not affect you.
PSE&G offers other options that may help you manage your electricity costs. Learn more below about the Time Of Use (TOU) electric rate and FlexPower program.
What is TOU?
TOU is a three-tier electric rate that charges different prices for electricity depending on the time of day that you use it.
Electricity used during off-peak and mid-peak hours is charged at lower rates, while electricity used during on-peak hours is charged at a higher rate. It is important to know that the TOU rate applies to all electricity used in your home, not just EV charging. To maximize your potential savings, you may need to shift other household electricity use to mid- and off-peak periods as well. You can try the TOU rate risk-free for the first 12 months. If, after the first 12 months, you do not realize savings compared to the RS rate (without charging credits), we will automatically credit your account for the difference.
You can also switch back to the RS rate (without the charging credits) at the end of the 12 months.

Macklemore donating $1m of net earnings to six organizations "working directly to support the Palestinian people." "A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth." -- a simple, truthful, and powerful sentence more people should consider! www.instagram.com/p/DdXFZLNARm...
With everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom.

I will be donating the entire $1 million of my net earnings from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour to six organizations working directly to support the Palestinian people. And I invite Robert Kraft to match my donation. Whatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting. A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth.

Per a sworn complaint from the Gainesville Police Department, Ahmed and Pitfield used university IP addresses to access their burner accounts—an allegation that was maddening to Kowalski, as UF had told her they dropped the Title IX investigation because the video was shot off campus.

I feel like I'm losing my mind. Graf one: Trump offers Americans $5k to keep GOP in power. Graf three: "But, Mr. Trump framed the checks as a benefit for all American adults, no matter whether or how they voted." These are not congruent? What am I misreading?! www.nytimes.com/2026/09/10/u...
President Trump on Wednesday floated the idea of issuing every American adult a $5,000 “dividend” check if his party kept control of the House and Senate in November — an extraordinary offer that would cost more than $1 trillion and likely would require congressional approval. It was not immediately clear if Mr. Trump would, or could, follow through on the proposal. Federal law prohibits spending money to influence voting decisions, such as vote-buying or voter bribery, but Mr. Trump framed the checks as a benefit for all American adults, no matter whether or how they voted.

In 2010, I wrote some loose thoughts about narrative + 9/11. Mostly holds up, but I think about this bit a lot: joshsternberg.com/2010/09/11/n...
Of course, my generation’s “where were you” moment is – and forever will be – 9/11. My parents’ generation’s story starts with “where where you when X got shot,” where X can be, in no particular order, JFK, RFK, MLK, Lennon. A generation marked by assassination.

My grandparents’ generation is a different story. Some grandparents mark 12/7/41, the attack on Pearl Harbor, as their moment, while other grandparents remember the day they were forced to wear yellow stars (and all the horrors that followed). A generation marked by mass bloodshed. They’re called The Greatest Generation, and for all their prosperity and expansion, they are defined by war.

threading that needle. www.gov.uk/government/s...
So Madame Deputy Speaker, I am proud of my Jewishness and unwavering in my support for the State of Israel.

And there is absolutely no contradiction between this and my support for the State of Palestine. Indeed quite the opposite.

The two state solution is based on an explicit belief that the only route to security for both peoples is to live side by side in peaceful co-existence with freedom, security and self-determination.

Securing the two-state solution in its fullest form is the North Star of this government’s policy, and indeed of successive British governments over decades.

And it is precisely this belief in the rights and freedoms of the Israeli and Palestinian people that leads many, including me, to a deep sense of shame about what has unfolded in Palestine under the eyes of the international community.

In Gaza, the most unimaginable trauma and suffering in the last three years - death, destruction and dehumanisation on an appalling scale.

A stain on the conscience of the world and of this country too.

Freedom to Read Act
The Freedom to Read Act (N.J.S.A. 18A:34A-1 et seq.) was adopted into law in December 2024 to protect New Jerseyans' free access to library materials. This includes the right of students in grades K through 12 to obtain developmentally-appropriate materials, curated by professionally-trained school library media specialists, from their school libraries.
The law requires that Local Education Agencies (LEAs) provide standards for curation of library materials, establish criteria for the removal of existing school library material, and provide protection against attempts to censor school library material.
