IWGB Game Workers Union @gameworkers.co.uk · 31/10/2025

This is the most ruthless act of union busting in the history of the UK games industry. Yesterday, @rockstargames.com unfairly fired over 30 employees for union activity. We won't back down, and we're not scared - we will fight for every member to be reinstated.

Posting about this again to keep getting locations here in the #losangeles area. #filmmakers — Looking for #abandoned locations for a project I’m creating/producing. Love the abandoned vibe but also anything that is overgrown works too. Prefer DMs inorder to protect the locations.

As a voice actor and audio engineer, my studio has been host to so many cool things. I’ve worked to make sure it wasn’t only a professional space to work but also a place where clients can feel at home. One of the coolest things is getting to record all of Scott’s audio for the game Battle Suit Aces

It’s been incredibly challenging—not just financially but emotionally. Recently, a few people thanked me for being so active on the front line as a captain and with @gpm-official.bsky.social and I realized in the moment how much of a toll on the heart it’s been. I believe in this fully.

I just realized something so stupid…it’s because we have a live audience and it’s important for immersion to transform and embody the character. Physical transformation is much more necessary in that live scenario. BUT it lends itself in the booth so much. 🥰

Josh Sterling @joshsterling.bsky.social · 10/05/2025

Maybe it’s my theatre background (went to college for it) but everything you just explained sounds to me like… …being an actor. 😂 And makes sense 🤷‍♂️

110

Josh Sterling @joshsterling.bsky.social · 10/05/2025

Soooo if you’re an actor that embodies a character including physical characteristics such as a change in facial expressions monster how minute they may be…can be defined as “the Thing”?

110

Josh Sterling @joshsterling.bsky.social · 10/05/2025

My head cannon is I’m the reason the VA community is losing its mind about this today 😂

Josh Sterling @joshsterling.bsky.social · 09/05/2025

I started in theatre 🎭 (and musical theatre) and believe it set me up for success with work ethic but I also know it gave me some not always healthy idiosyncrasies. What do you mean by “The Thing”? Genuinely curious.

And that’s not to say that all games are union. This strike isn’t a U vs NU thing. It’s much bigger than that. It’s for everyone. It will ripple past the entertainment industry. Plus, most union changes affect the NU space as well.

Josh Sterling @joshsterling.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

I should be clear. If we cave. If we don’t stick this out until we get a fair deal. It won’t be long until performers have no say. If there’s no performers, then scheduling sessions isn’t needed. Which means staff at studios is barely needed. Which means no budget for hours. Which means layoffs etc

Remember my comment about A Bug’s Life earlier? This is it. I’m a SAG actor but I’ve also worked as an engineer on several games. This strike affects SO MANY people that aren’t just performers. The whole production infrastructure will change and a lot of people’s livelihood will disappear. Poof

Josh Sterling @joshsterling.bsky.social · 03/05/2025

Won’t stop referring to A Bug’s Life as the perfect metaphor 😂 “…let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up! Those puny little ants outnumber us a hundred to one and if they ever figure that out there goes our way of life! It's not about food, it's about keeping those ants in line”

There are members of the VA community that are so “above” most of us that they should be seen as management. They report to the employers and the employers are going to use that to their advantage in order cause in fighting to tear us apart from the inside. Don’t believe everything you hear.

Hey. I'm gonna be real. To all the rich VAs saying "this strike needs to end" because your bottom line is starting to hurt: Suck it up. Those of us at the bottom who have a hell of a lot more to lose are running Uber Eats etc to make it through this. The strike will end when we get our deal.

Hello, #voiceover friends. Be prudent on whom you trust for getting info about the strike. Do the people asking for it to end have a vested interest or would make money if it ended early? Are you getting transparent information from all sides? Time to use your brains and journalism skills, folks

I’ve said this too many time in my life. Usually I’m a little more spicy than this but you can’t control anything that other people do but you can control your own actions. If want to see change, then you have take action. When a VA runs for leadership, show up and vote!

Not sure who needs to hear this but please remember that time does not always equal loss. Just because the strike is 8 months in, doesn't mean we are losing. With more and more games signing the interim and solidarity growing industry wide... WE ARE WINNING.
