iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

i'm approaching the "gonna need a spreadsheet to keep tabs on all my filament" stage of this hobby.

every home should have a 3d printer, laser cutter, and a cnc machine.

what AI tools do you currently pay for? chatgpt, claude, perplexity, etc.

I basically run it 24/7. It’s my favorite thing of all my things.

you’re guaranteed to have Alzheimer’s, but won’t see symptoms for 20+ more years. what do you do in the meantime to delay onset as long as possible?

let's play "Name That Thing That Josh is Making™"

sanity check on @maybe.co content/SEO. thinking what i do is go through all these high-volume keywords with lower difficulty and write content specifically for those pages. good idea? better ideas? suggestions?

Inside Trading Tracker - Maybe

Just dropped a new @maybe.co mini-tool: Inside Trading Tracker! maybe.co/tools/inside... See what the insiders at public companies are up to with stock trades. 🕵️

i don't use the vs code/cursor terminal.

so how do i get AI to write git commit messages? i almost want something that's sort of always monitoring code changes so that the second i'm ready to commit, it's already got the message written.

It’s a trap! There are quite literally an infinite number of weird edge cases and just as many opinions on what to do with those edge cases. For the vast majority of businesses, the trend is more important than the “exact” dollars. It’s a subjective metric.

Rails background job rate limiting question: I'm pulling data from a third-party API that has a rate limit of 10 requests per second. This is happening via Sidekiq background jobs. Sidekiq has a concurrency of 300. How can I handle rate limiting across hundreds of background jobs?

literally everything becomes easier when you're not 60 pounds overweight. the big question is "will my habits have changed enough to keep the weight off once i'm at my goal". certainly too early to say since i've still got 30-40 more pounds to go. but 6 weeks in...absolutely amazing.

i exercise every day and simply eat less because i basically never feel hungry or crave *any* foods. i've struggled for over a decade to get to a healthy weight (i started at 250 and am working towards ~180-190) and tried everything under the sun. goal here is momentum.

110

health talk: i've been taking a tirzepatide (mounjaro) for the past 6 weeks and...it's been nothing short of phenomenal. * down 20 pounds * no more CPAP machine * more energy * better focus

there's no question in my mind that Google has no clue.

HOW DID I NOT THINK OF PRINTING TOYS FOR THE GRANDKIDS UNTIL NOW?!?!?!

390

how can we make this little mini-tool for the @maybe.co marketing site more useful/interesting?

330

i agree with this completely.

120

i’m increasingly convinced literally no one knows what they’re talking about with SEO. guesses and hypotheses? sure. but actual factual knowledge? absolutely no one.

yeah, there's so many cool opportunities for merch...especially little items to put on your desk.

no "conveyor" movement, BUT can be configured in any number of ways just like the game.
