iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

That's a really cool idea. Definitely some architectural changes that would need to happen on the backend. I'll add it to my list of future enhancements. It's pretty straightforward to open up access to that single, linked bsky post if you think that's helpful at all.

I see. That's not something we ever supported. On the backend, the recipe link doesn't exist at that stage yet. What if you could select a "Share manually" option, create the recipe, and then add your bsky post link on the recipe page to enable the social features?

Are you referring to this configuration? The recipe is public and we don't aggregate likes or comments. Are you wanting to be able to share the link yourself, and still have likes/comment aggregated on recipe.exchange?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure how the site is "hostile" or "ill-conceived". It is a side project that I do for fun in my spare time. I've fixed the the issue allowing recipe overwrites that you highlighted. I appreciate you pointing that out.

Those pipes look amazing. Any chance we could get a video of how it sounds? It'd be amazing to hear this beauty in action!

Pretty impressed with my first Rust service - this is a week of metrics from the @recipe.exchange AT Protocol jetstream filter running on a basic @digitalocean.com droplet. Minimal CPU while processing the entire firehose - next to zero lag. No restarts, no memory leaks, just humming along.

Two time series graphs showing one week of metrics (Jan 25-31) from a Digital Ocean droplet. The top graph shows bandwidth usage with public inbound traffic fluctuating between 2.5-5 Mb/s with occasional spikes to 7.5 Mb/s, and minimal outbound traffic around 0.5 Mb/s. The bottom graph shows CPU usage with user processes averaging around 7% and system processes below 2%.

This is absolutely stunning! Love how notes are integrated into the recipes and how original sources are thoughtfully attributed. Such a fantastic use of @leaflet.pub - bravo!

Nice writeup Laurens. Thank you for sharing! I created the Lexicon for @recipe.exchange before @lexicon.community was established. I would have gone that route had it been available at the time. Now the challenge is figuring out the best migration path forward. It’s definitely on my radar.

This is your mission. We take our power back now at the local and state level. Stop waiting for a national hero. It’s you. Get to work.

I need to know what appropriate crafting fury is now? Like when you throw the yarn across the room but still go pick it up?

DNS TXT records pointing to DIDs for schema resolution is interesting. I'm curious to know how set in stone the current versioning approach is.

ATProto folks - are there any firehose stats services out there already? For example, number of events by hour/day/week/month, breakdowns by collection/operation, or other interesting tidbits you could glean from firehose data. Does this exist already? #atproto #firehose

Meredith’s Gluten Free Peasant Bread is the best gluten-free bread I’ve ever had - perfect sponginess, texture, and flavor. If you’re ever in Kingston, NY, it’s worth stopping by the bakery. Also, don’t miss the Zaborski Emporium while you’re there. www.meredithsbread.com/product/glut...

Looks like you’re gonna have to have an odd ball small saucepan? I like the look of the ceramic. Wonder if they work on induction.

Interest rate caps are treating symptoms, not the disease. The real question is why so many of us need credit cards as a financial lifeline in the first place. The focus should be on livable wages, affordable healthcare, education costs, etc. which I know Bernie also supports.

I wouldn’t worry about that - I’m 25 years into my career and haven’t done the “sexy company” thing either. Smaller, lesser known companies allow you to have bigger impact, wear more hats, and grow in ways that might be impossible in a bigger org. Much more my speed.

Re: schema.org - I would think Schema becomes even more important in a post-AI world to provide some common guidelines/structure around communication/computation. Admittedly, that's all way beyond me.

I went back and forth on whether or not to use bsky.feed ultimately just landed on the path of least for resistance - at least short term.
