The TV no, they count one dead pixel as within the remit of sellable, and tbf it's only noticeable when the screen is really dark and you know where to look, much as that's besides the point The sound bar, seemingly so. It's being collected tomorrow for a courier return and refund, in theory

Having their phones for years too and each one is now also a decline on the last. Uglier, less features, worse cameras with lenses that degrade over time, a stylus that now literally does nothing because they stripped the Bluetooth out of it. Three 'premium' devices and all I see is a crap company.

All my TVs have been Samsung and never a fault. Until this one. Loaded with ads and bloatware, a god ugly lagging interface, the sound was crap enough it needed a sound bar, dead pixel within a month, and this is a 'high end' model - their next step up is like proper home cinema territory.

Like, it's a glorified speaker with both cable and wireless connection options. How the fuck do they make that shit complicated when connecting to a TV that they also made? Fml

No summer getaway this year after months and months of mind-numbing corporate work, my mental health through the floor, I thought I'd at least just be able to slob out at home in front of a nice TV for a bit... ... Samsung said no, fuck you.

Bought a new not-overly-cheap Samsung TV in June, it had a dead pixel within a month. Bought a Samsung soundbar to go with it, and that's just gone faulty as well - like outright refuses to connect now, out of nowhere. Do Samsung just make shite now?

It was a uni email address as I was still a student when I signed up. You lose those a little time after you graduate. This is the only platform it's remotely an issue on too . Everywhere else offers at least one workaround and/or staff support. Bluesky offers nothing - embarrassing in 2026 tbh

Josh @joshalexcairo.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
For a platform that launched nearly 3 years ago it's unacceptable, and utterly dismissive of the safety of all our personal data.

Josh @joshalexcairo.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
There's no user support to contact, and worse still it means I can't ever set up 2FA or change my password to login, or even delete the account outright - because that all gets verified by email too. Abysmal.

Josh @joshalexcairo.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Apart from the place just being lacklustre, the data security is atrocious - the worst of any platform I use by far. If you lose access to the email address linked to Bluesky, as I have because it was a university account I now can't use, there is no function at all to address this...

A small heads up to the very few people who might follow me on here but maybe not elsewhere, I'm deactivating this account in about a week from now. Instagram will be about the last bastion I'm at ✌️

When you realise the Republicans will froth at the mouth at the prospect of a self-serving trade deal with the UK to 'own the EU and Canadian libs', you can really now see how the UK is now just a pawn in a game of giants. Tories, Labour, and Reform should never be forgiven for what they've done.

It's also funny (depressing) seeing a country like the UK now largely irrelevant to a conversation that involves Canada, Australia, the US, and 95% of the European continent. All of our most natural and cultural allies. Brexit really was a hubris-driven own goal of stupidity.

Sheeran's response somehow makes it even worse. Calling it a conflict between two sides, trying to deflect blame entirely onto venues, and having the audacity to say Macklemore approached him to support his tour... ... like, what a boring, money-pinching, complicit prick. bsky.app/profile/airb...

You have to be a special kind of spineless to deliver music as mid as Sheeran does, and then prioritise your millions over your industry friends and basic morals as well.

They're also incredibly socially intelligent. They roost communally so that those who have found food can help those who haven't. Ironically, there's more 'humanity' in that than how we often treat our own.

If anyone ever wondered how or why I like to spend so much time around animals, or helping them, it's because they simultaneously deserve better whilst also being the absolute best therapy against the worst of humanity

Say what you will about the endless franchise slop, but 2026 really has been a stellar year for original cinema. There are so many brilliant films out this year that have earned praise on their own terms, rather than relying on a bunch of existing films to sell themselves.

I'll settle for the really rather lovely fact signs they've now dotted around the park that tell you what you're looking at, with explainers for why it was designed the way it was and what the modern theories are 😊

"Norwegians are girls who love girls, boys who love boys, and girls and boys who love each other." I'm no monarchist, but Harald always came across as a person before a king, and he's not the head of state people would have wanted added to the long list of obituaries from this week.

His daughter-in-law knew Epstein for a few years when living in New York, and you run with this and mention it 7 times in the obit. Fairly shite tbh.

If you like animation, or live-action-meets-animation. If you grew up on Looney Tunes. If you like some substance with your slapstick. If you like some originality or heart, or sticking it to corporations... There's so many reasons to see this brilliant film in a cinema. boxd.it/fZnLtp

Yet another gone-too-soon loss in 2026, Hayden was one of those actresses who seemed to just rock up through my childhood and teens in a bunch of things I loved watching, and who should've had a bright future still ahead in front of them

Don't like much on this no-longer-damp rock, but our plugs are a genuine marvel of engineering and are far from clumsy 😅 All the European one has going for it is... it's smaller (which also then just means it can't carry as strong a current, so it's usually slower for charging as well).
150
Josh @joshalexcairo.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
The Earth wire inside the plug head is also afforded a tiny bit of slack as well, which is what the extra space is for. If a plug is suddenly yanked out that slack ensures the Earth wire is the last in the socket, and it absorbs any electricity before it can spark.
130
Josh @joshalexcairo.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Size is their only downside but it's for so many good purposes. It holds its own fuse, so it will short-circuit itself before causing a fire. The pins are half plastic which makes it impossible to electrocute yourself at the mains, and the long Earth pin acts like a key, keeping kids safe at sockets

Josh @joshalexcairo.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Agreed. Given our economy is in the gutter, maybe we should start up a huge export scheme to rewire and distribute our style across the planet. Like colonialism, but taking out all the unethical pillaging, and actually leaving a place better than we found it.

Josh @joshalexcairo.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
My second hotel? One socket for the whole room and it was so loose I had to hold the plug in place with my rucksack propping it up. And naturally, Switzerland might be my next port of call! 🙃😅
130
Josh @joshalexcairo.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
I'd totally forgotten from my last visit that they're extra special there. My first hotel had a dodgy socket that you had to shove the plug into with extreme force (subsequently nearly forcing off a whole fingernail as it caught the rim).

Josh @joshalexcairo.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Totally not whining about this because a plug socket in Italy damaged one of my fingers this week. Nope, definitely not.

Long days, 2am load-outs in 30°C heat and 90% humidity, and the threat of thunderstorms under a volcano But I got to be one of the few people who's walked (and worked from) the ampitheatre walls, and even took a moment where I had the entire space to myself. Just surreal.
