Hold on, did everyone do so much AI last night that US-east-1 started to melt?

Screenshot of AWS status page that says

May 08 3:54 AM PDT We continue to make progress towards resolving the impaired EC2 instances and degraded EBS volumes in a single Availability Zone (use1-az4) in the US-EAST-1 Region. At this time, we wanted to provide some more details on the issue. Beginning on May 7 at 4:20 PM PDT, we began experiencing an increase in instance impairments within the affected zone due to the loss of power during a thermal event. Engineers were automatically engaged within minutes and immediately began investigating multiple mitigations. By 9:12 PM PDT, we restored power to a subset of the affected infrastructure and observed some signs of recovery, which have remained stable. We continue working to bring additional cooling system capacity online, which will enable us to recover the remaining affected hardware in the impacted zone in a controlled and safe manner

Wait till these folks find out about thinking for a second about what could go wrong before giving a project someone vibe coded last week read/ write access to their email, social media and texts. bsky.app/profile/josh...

Screenshot of 404.co post that says:

O’Reilly said that he reached out to Moltbook’s creator Matt Schlicht about the vulnerability and told him he could help patch the security. “He’s like, ‘I’m just going to give everything to AI. So send me whatever you have.’” O’Reilly sent Schlicht some instructions for the AI and reached out to the xAI team.

A day passed without another response from the creator of Moltbook and O’Reilly stumbled across a stunning misconfiguration. “It appears to me that you could take over any account, any bot, any agent on the system and take full control of it without any type of previous access,” he said.
