Looks like very limited release and still making its way through festivals (including Orcas Island, which has it next weekend). Major Academy markets aren't until later this month: Chicago Oct 16; SF/Dallas Oct 22; Atlanta Oct 29 ... probably a "more to come" situation? films.neonrated.com/fjord/

How is it even a good experience for the cars to drive through there? I do not understand how this is even a question.

THE SOCIAL RECKONING includes a scene with a Michigan State basketball game being described as going to OT at the buzzer, which as far as I can tell is not a thing that happened during the sloppy timeline of the movie yet is used as a motivating incident. I hate that this is how my brain works now.

Inadvertently or not, Sorkin embraced the "you have to make them feel pain" attitude toward the audience of this cringeworthy sequel that should've been an email. Namely, one with a simple "no" to preempt production and protect Jeremy Strong from a terrible haircut.

This is all so petty but I could *almost* squint and try to see their point if this was going late into the night instead of during VPC's very limited daytime hours.

Sometimes think critics vastly overestimate the audience appeal of a movie being shattering, flooring, inducing uncontainable harrowing despair ... but then remembered I'm going to a SOCIAL RECKONING preview tonight of my own free will.

hard to cope with the "real" show on screen definitively revealing itself to not be the very specific "better" one you'd invented for yourself along the way

The good ol' "not immediately clear" and "some disagreed" combo, an absolute classic
“They could take out a city,” he said. “Let them take — Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”

It was not immediately clear what Mr. Trump meant, but his comments were met with anger from officials in California, including Gov. Gavin Newsom, who called the president “deranged and dangerous.”

This is very good but tbh Wilson had already starting losing me by abandoning the "hallmark movie"'conceit with the "music doc" conceit which felt very engineered as a joke on a hat on a gag to bail out into an "oh wait people with lives exist" conclusion.

My suspicion about DIGGER is that Iñárritu finally made a movie so distasteful that Cruise forced a twist to re-engineer it, but the twist was so hastily conceived that it required another and both only magnify the empty cynicism of the whole "project".

Still ... wild how they could just show Digger at that ratio in a regular movie theater without a guide to the dozen possible format and presentation options and how many hundreds of miles you'd have to travel to find them if tickets were even available.

The personal specificity of NO OTHER LAND made me so angry I wanted to throw rocks. NAZA is a whole different level: chillingly casual rooftop admissions from war criminals sketch an ongoing atrocity and indict modern warfare itself. There aren't consequences, let alone ones severe enough.

It's asbestos. AI is asbestos. AI devotees miss the analogy because they are ahistorical and don't understand how "revolutionary" and "useful" asbestos was during its heyday. The revolution and utility did not prevent it from being a giant civilizational mistake with generations of consequences.
