The Palestinian Bedouin community of Khan al Ahmar in Area C of the West Bank is at serious risk of forced displacement and destruction by Israel. In Area C, Israel asserts full brutal military control. This is a community that has come under sustained attack from Israeli forces and settlers for many years - where the school and kindergarten have long had demolition orders against them, and in an act of cruelty, the swings removed so Khan al Ahmar’s children can only swing off the frame. Access has been made increasingly more difficult, with attempts to isolate the community. And where a sewage pipe from the nearby settlement of Kfar Adumim comes out of the ground next to the school. At one point, Israel’s plane were to forcibly displace people to a site next to a sewage plant.The brazen and egregious Israeli policies of ethnic cleansing and apartheid are as clear as day in a community like Khan al Ahmar, where their fate lies with the far right extremist minister Smotrich (sanctioned by the UK). The UK needs to do much more. Khan al Ahmar is a community which has been spoken about relentlessly in the UK Parliament. UK Cabinet members, Ministers, and Parliamentarians simply cannot say they don’t know. Former Foreign Secretary William Hague has visited, so has the former Labour Party leader @ed_miliband and the ex Health Secretary @wesstreeting on a @caabu and @medicalaidpal delegation. Action must be taken to prevent the forcible displacement and ethnic cleansing of this Palestinian community, and so many others. Israel must be held accountable for its regime of apartheid and treated as the rogue state it demonstrates that it is each day, as it continues on with its genocide in Gaza. All trade with Israeli settlements must be banned. Accountability must be a fundamental part of UK foreign policy, not simply something they say every now and then.
