Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 15/06/2025A new play from Københavns Shakespeare Kompagni. 010
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 02/05/2025But the judgement from the supreme court is very much the law and has immediate effect. 090
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 01/05/2025This is incorrect, just straightforwardly incorrect. You really need to either talk to a lawyer or fire the ones you're listening to. 0120
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 29/04/2025Which trans groups applied to put in submissions? 010
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 25/04/2025This deeply personal and targeted attack is totally unwarranted 010
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 25/04/2025You can accuse the person arguing that women need and deserve spaces where they can be guaranteed men will not be allowed of being a supporter of patriarchy as much as you like, it will remain obviously ridiculous. 010
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 25/04/202599.9%. Well, right now I'm arguing with someone who wants men who day they're women to enter female spaces thus making them less safe. So that's one way 110
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 25/04/20253) You are incorrect, you are in fact safer in a female only space. 010
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 25/04/20251) They were, and that fact was repeated challenge by people trying to get round it by redefining the words "woman" "female" and "sex" so it's good these have been clarified. 2. Yes they should be barred from any space that is exclusively for women, because otherwise...it isn't. 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 25/04/2025Possible answers include: Yes. No. I don't believe in females. 200
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 24/04/2025I know you know that I asked about single sex spaces, not single gender identity spaces. Do you think that women have the right to have spaces which are exclusively female? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 24/04/2025Investing our time and effort into costume is...worth it. 020
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 24/04/2025You do think that women should be able to have single sex spaces right? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025I don't see how you can both know the arguments and also think that what you have described represents them. Do you think women should be able to have single sex (not gender indentity) spaces? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025But look, you clearly haven't engaged with anything "GC" people have been saying so I'd recommend looking at the work of Jane Clare Jones, Sex Matters, and Emma Hilton. That would be a good starting overview. 220
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025No, no it wasn't, and isn't. Male violence is perpetrated by males, however they identify themselves. What you're describing is something that people said because when they said "transwomen are men and should stay out of female spaces" they were vilified. 110
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025If you don't ban all transwomen then it isn't a single sex space. The reason this has had to be clarified is that trans activists had conducted a very successful campaign to convince society that "woman" had no meaning except for self identification, which is the sexist nonsense you're defending. 130
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025Men finding an excuse to be misogynistic is not women's fault and no reason they should have to give up single sex spaces, even if that would somehow prevent men being misogynistic, which of course it wouldn't. 000
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025What you're avoiding is that your solution is for women to have no right to single sex spaces. 120
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025I'm not avoiding it I'm saying you're being hyperbolic. The woman in the story was wearing a hoody, someone who couldn't see her wasn't sure if she was a woman and said "those are the women's loos" the woman replied "I know" at which point the exchange ended. That isn't policing gender. 110
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025And again, it is not the GC side who think that haircuts make a woman. That's your side. 120
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025I've already told you that no solution is necessary for occasional social embarrassment. Which is all the story in that link shows. It also says that the same thing occasionally happened before the judgement 200
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025How you feel is your business but single sex spaces do make women safer as they exclude the people who commit almost all of the violence, which is men, however they identify. 010
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 23/04/2025Then you haven't heard of sophie molly, or India Willoughby, or seem many of the placards or heard the speeches given by trans activists on protests since the judgement. 110
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 22/04/2025But more broadly which do you think is more likely to cause there to be some kind of verification at single sex facilities: 1. Some women having short hair. 2. Groups of men who proclaim that they will enter women's toilets to prove they can. 210
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 22/04/2025Why would I need to have a solution for a woman who occasionally has a slightly awkward social interaction? Because, that's all the story you linked to is. 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 22/04/2025They visable differences between the sexes are not societal norms. I didn't say, "we can see who dresses the way our society expects a woman to dress" I asked if you agree that we can usually accurately tell someone's sex. Do you? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 22/04/2025Ok. Just to calibrate, do you agree that sex is usually (but not always) visually disernable? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 22/04/2025Why have you put quotation marks around biological woman? 130
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025It's also central to my point, your sex is not defined by your appearance. Your sex usually influences your appearance to the point where your sex can be visually identified but misidentifiations don't change your sex. 000
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025Why would I be falling over myself, you saw the word usually right? The occasions when it may not be visually disernable certainly include some DSDs, such as the one Semenya has. 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025No problem. So sex is real and is usually visually disernable, especially if you can actually see the person's body. We agreed so far? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025You seem to have deleted a post there Seb. 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025The parent who provides the sperm is the father. You seem to be working from incorrect information and should have a quick google. 000
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025What are you basing that on? Semenya has 5aR2D, which only makes can have. 110
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025That isn't correct though, Semenya is male. 110
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025Just for clarity, you accept that sex is a biological reality identified rather than assigned? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025The context being identifying babies at birth? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025You've got it backwards. It's not if you present as a woman you are a woman, it's if you are female you will almost certainly be discernablely female. Same for male. 110
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025You think I want to murder people because I think that women who want to get changed in a single sex space should be allowed to? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025They don't though. It's trans activists who advocate for medical interventions and surgery to alter bodies to make them "more" male or female. GCs say your sex is your sex no matter what you do to the body. Your point is exactly backwards. 150
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025I don't understand, it's the trans side which thinks removing body parts changes your sex. I'm certain none of the women involved in the appeal would think you were anything other than a woman who survived cancer. 050
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025Which trans organisations applied and were excluded? 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025But, if you want to argue on morality alone, then I think telling a woman who just wants a place away from men to get changed that she can't have it and that she is a bigot, is a deeply immoral and misogynistic thing to do and you should sort yourself out. 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025Since the post you replied to was about providing single sex spaces as a part of events in the UK...yes, talking about the relevant law in the UK is a cogent point. 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025That's simply not true and would be unlawful descrimation against the woman (in the UK). 100
Joseph Sherlock @josephsherlock.bsky.social · 18/04/2025So you'd deny her request for a single sex space to get changed in? 100
