If PATH were modernized, this would shrink NY property values while exponentially increasing values in townships that are adjacent to NYC. Upper middle income families are already moving across the river; this would accelerate it.

I’m not familiar with the bilateral income tax agreement, but New Jersey benefits tremendously from its proximity to not only NYC but New Jersey. If NJ genuinely cared, they would do everything to rebuild Newark into a stalwart, not just another suburb of NYC.

Wouldn’t Garcia ameliorate this gap? She specifically wants to target PATH, a bi-state system, and bring it to modern metro levels. That will tremendously benefit NJ more than NYC.

The populism spewing across the right is disgusting, but man, I hope we don't reach an era of left populism.

The loss of regional banking has led to a lack of community around the country. Regional banks supported the housing markets of local economies, created jobs, and provide opportunities for those local entrepreneurs. The strength of regional banking comes from education. Having a rotating door of-

Do Liberals seriously think that the voting population cares about anything that Trump and Elon are doing? What they are doing is wrong, but it clearly does not matter. The populace do not care, and there is going to be a reshaping of culture in the United States.

Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog is coming to The Met...I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT IN PERSON! Aside from the Black Paintings of Goya, this is one of the few portraits that I've been dying to see from abroad.

Shunji Iwai is slowly turning into my favourite director and film writer. I am in love with how he deals with adolescent isolation, identity, and existentialism. Interestingly, I find that Kantian ethics has a role in his films, especially on the topic of morality.

The nostalgia of the 50s, 60s, and 70s can largely be described as much of the employment being local. This allowed communities to grow, mom and pop shops to blossom, and the quality of life improving. Once that was shifted away, we only saw affluent communities fence away these opportunities.

I think we should look at this from a different perspective: why aren't institutions look to hire, train, and guide Americans in the same way they are looking to hire H1-B applicants and to some extent migrant workers? Corporate profits are through the roof, which answers that question well.

How come we don’t construct brick viaducts for trains anymore? Seems like the infrastructure is sturdy enough to last centuries (ie Park Ave Viaduct) and they are quite pleasing to the eye.

Absolutely insane that much of the green areas in the original Parkchester development were removed in the 70s-2000s in favour of more parking, lol. If anything, the area has lost so much of its original charm. The theatre, the diners, the abundance of mom and pop shops; we no longer see them.
