Gotta admit I'm a sucker for sci-fi classics 😂. As an author, the books that influence my novels more heavily are: Martian Chronicles, Foundations, 1984, Brave New World, Lovecraft's complete collection, and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? What about yours? 😊 #author #scifibooks #amazonbooks

Still quite early, I am afraid. I also tend to write them first in Spanish and then translate them so it will take a bit. I appreciate the offer, though! :)

When it comes to writing mainly dark dystopian sci-fi :). It's how I started and so far love it! What about you?

Jorge J. Prieto @jorgejprieto.bsky.social · 11/03/2026

Thanks! Yes, so far sounds promising :). I never heard of BTN before but sounds interesting! I usually do a bit of research, build a pathway towards an end I have in mind and let the rest flow towards it

I love it when I start writing my third novel, I come up with a name for a city and immediately search for it, hoping it matches the period and culture... Turns out, it not only matches, but it already existed and fits the story perfectly. Sounds like a good sign! #author #scifi

Yeah, I read on Reddit that they did something similar with Bookbub ads and some people are spending $300-700 a week, which is untenable for smaller authors. Might still give FB ads a go and see if the change is so bad. Thanks for the advice! :)

010

Jorge J. Prieto @jorgejprieto.bsky.social · 05/11/2025

I was recommended by another author to use the Matthew Holmes strategy, which is focused on untargeted FB ads running daily. He now says the algorithm has changed, and he has moved to Bookbub, so I am considering my options. :/ Amazon ads I never made it work. You need BIG bids to compete there.

110

Jorge J. Prieto @jorgejprieto.bsky.social · 05/11/2025

Are they really that useless? I was considering using them for the first time, but I fear they will be as Amazon ads...

Jorge J. Prieto @jorgejprieto.bsky.social · 10/10/2025

Totally! It has taken a bit, but it has been worth it. :) Go celebrate it once it's done! 💪
