Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Even if the Democrats get both houses in Congress, it's unlikely they get the 67 votes in the Senate to convict, so why waste the time when the country has more important things to worry about? Saying you want to impeach the president isn't going to sway undecided Independents. 110 0
Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Of course, it's just a coincidence that the caravan is occurring before the midterms. I've wondered aloud who's financing this. It wouldn't surprise me or anyone else if GOP dark money was behind it. 000 0

Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I periodically hit Gas Buddy to see the range in prices. Currently, it's $6.39 to $6.99. We don't commute with our truck but it needs to be driven periodically and for towing. Prices were a headshaker after Russia went into Ukraine. That was a headshaker. This is devastating for many. 000 0

Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 15/09/2026The DOE head says the pipeline will be down for days, everyone else says weeks. The SPR is getting down debatable minimum levels, but I suspect that 47 will ignore warnings of cavern failures and keep drawing down further to prevent prices skyrocketing further before the midterms. 100 0

Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 13/09/2026It wasn't that long ago that the administration was suggesting that paying more at the pump was better than Iran getting a nuclear weapon. As a diesel driver, I would suggest paying more at the pump is better than Russia overwhelming Ukraine. There is more of a risk of the latter. 011 0

Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 10/09/2026That needs to be repeated again and again. As an example, you could end Medicare, and it would only reduce annual deficits and do nothing for the debt. End social security? No impact on the debt. Repeal all Trump tax cut? Reduces the deficit, slowly reduces the debt. We need cuts, revenue & growth. 010 0
Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Even if it WAS true (that China is behind the bad press), it likely made little difference for many communities. In our state, traditional data centers already had bad press for causing increases in electrical rates and using scarce water. AI data centers exacerbate those issues and adds to the ire. 010 0
Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 03/09/2026A day or so ago, Sam Altman compared AI use to electricity in that use of AI is non-negotiable going forward. When the power goes off, my frig doesn't work unless I have a backup plan in place. When the power goes off, data centers aren't working either. It's apples and oranges to me. 010 0

Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 03/09/2026I am guessing that most of Congress (Dems & GOP) are against an expansion (in a vote that matters). The real test of conscience is a limit of the time served on the court. That is, eliminate life-time terms for the judicial branch. 010 0

Greg @joplinguy.bsky.social · 26/08/2026It's conceivable that corporate grain growers see this as a win. That is, an opportunity to pickup property long sought to add to their portfolios.
