I made myself a merino, silk, and mohair scrunchie because I am just that *extra*. It's also a great way to use up a very small amount of super luxury yarn. Pupu Scrunchie by Sari Nordlund, in Claudia Hand Painted Yarns Merino Silk and Purl Soho Tussock. #knitting #knit #knitsky 🧶
A hand knitted scrunchie laid on top of a book, which is in turn on top of a sticker bedecked laptop. The scrunchie is knit in rich burgundy yarn that has a shine from the silk content and a halo of mohair, and has an attached bow or tails tied on one side. The same scrunchie, now on a person's wrist. The person's nails are painted a shimmery green and burgundy, and a tattoo of a tiger kitten playing with burgundy/pink yarn is visible on their forearm.

First of two preorders to arrive this month, Platform Decay by @marthawells.com! Now for a tough decision - do I finish the current batch of library books first, or abandon them for a shiny new #murderbot? Either way, Amos is performing excellently as a book rest. #booksky
A copy of Platform Decay by Martha Wells. The cover of the book is a picture of Murderbot floating in front of a gray background suggesting a space ship or station. Behind the book is an orange tabby cat on a person's lap, and the thumb nail on the hand holding the book is painted shimmery bright green.

In the top right corner is a bright purple knitting bag, and in the top left, an orange tabby cat sniffs warily at the yarn.A skein of dark teal, sport weight 100% cashgora from Cashmere People Yarn, purchased from Port Fiber. The fiber has a gentle luster and is incredibly soft, and has a subtle shading between brighter and deeper shades of teal. On the right is the tag, which has a picture of the woman who handspun the yarn in Tajikistan. The project planned for this yarn is a Haust sweater by Skeindeer Knits.A close up of hand dyed purple and teal Cascade DK from Toil & Trouble Yarns. The super wash merino is overall very dark, but has lovely shades of each color. This is destined to become a Cloudbreak Tee by Wool & Pine.An unpacked embroidery kit, consisting of a small hoop, linen fabric, 5 mini skeins of embroidery thread in purples, gray and white, and a pattern booklet. And this, friends, is why we bring at least 3 projects on vacation. I finished the baby sweater 2 hours into a 4 hour drive, then switched to the cabled sweater, and ran out of usable yarn at hour 3. I rested my hands instead of working on my socks, but it was comforting to know they were there.
A stack of hand knits on the lap of a person sitting in a car. The bottom layer is a cabled sweater, still in several pieces, one sleeve on the needles, in a tweedy dark red yarn. On top of that is a mostly finished raspberry colored baby sweater with a lacy raglan detail.

Me and my knitting buddy working on a baby sweater. It's the teens' first time watching the Dune movies so we have the lights turned down low for the full cinematic experience. I love that my kids have turned out to be the type of people who watch a great movie, and immediately ask for the book.
An unfinished raspberry colored hand knit baby sweater, draped across an orange and white cat. The sweater is the Norwegian Fir pattern by Oge Knitwear Designs, and the yarn is Cascade 220 Superwash in Razzleberry Heather. The body of the sweater is complete, and a person's hand is holding up the almost complete right sleeve of the sweater. The cat is sleeping soundly.

Our washer broke, so while I am stuck at the laundromat without my knitting (yes, it's as horrible as it sounds), I'll share the handspun Musselburgh that I finished this weekend. This is a merino silk blend, dyed by @wonderlanddyeworks.bsky.social and spun as a 2 ply fractal. 🧶 #spinning #knitsky
An unfolded Musselburgh hat dangling from a person's hand. The hat resembles a very long tube with a dome at each end, and the yarn created varying width stripes in shades of lavender, navy, and pale muted green, the colors sometimes solid, sometimes marled. In the background is a large bright window and an old fashioned wooden spinning wheel. The same hat folded into a hat shape. Assembled, the hat is double thickness on top with a deep, quadruple thickness cuff. The hat is again held up by one corner, and in the background is a staircase, a black grand piano, and a bright yellow and white couch.

Spring cleaning, yarn edition. I have been long overdue in organizing all of my chaos, and have found 4 active WIPs, 2 inactive WIPs, 1 untouched kit, 7 stray skeins of yarn, 1 freezer bag of scraps, 4 sets of DPNs, 1 circular needle, 1 crochet hook, and 7 empty project bags. 🧶
A jumbled pile of yarn and knitting paraphernalia, including multiple large to medium sized project bags, a stack of various skeins of yarn, two different socks, neither of which has a pair, and a variety of needles and hooks.

Snowy day ply-back test! I didn't spin or knit much for the last few months, due to the holidays and school and video games and, of course, The Horrors™, but today's spinning guild meeting brought a little bit of my mojo back. Now to pull out the drum carder and prep more of this Romney!
A small sample of yarn and unspun wool fiber held in front of a spinning wheel. The fiber and yarn are a murky blue teal color, and match the nail polish on the hand that is holding the sample. The scene is brightly lit from the white snow outside a window in the background.

It took a little longer than a single day, but the koroks are finished! This pattern, while thorough, was a doozy and I will happily never make another. Now back to my winter activity of leveling alts in WoW...
Three crocheted koroks, small forest spirits from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The one on the left is swirled blue and brown and has a medium sized, heart shaped green leaf mask. The center korok is swirled pink and burnt orange, has a four-lobed leaf mask in a darker green, and is holding one arm up in a jaunty wave. The right-most korok is swirled peach and brown, and has a yellow, pale green, and bright orange mask shaped somewhat like a maple leaf. Each mask has a suggestion of a face embroidered in black and the korok's nose sticking out of its center.

A little late but almost relevant, my tiger/kitten/fairy/yarn tattoo! This tattoo makes me so happy every time I see it (stupid winter requiring stupid long sleeves) and really lets everyone know I have a weird obsession with cats and yarn.
A white person's arm with their sleeve rolled up to show an illustrative style tattoo of a tiger kitten with butterfly wings enthusiastically chomping a ball of yarn. The kitten is orange with black stripes, their wings are green with black borders and mauve dots, and the ball of yarn is also mauve.

Today's snow day goal is to finish up these koroks, which were supposed to be last year's stocking stuffers. My crafting mojo has been elusive this month, but maybe checking these guys off my WIP list will bring it back... Colorful Spirits Amigurumi pattern by ElizettaCrafts. #crochet #zelda
Three incomplete crocheted korok amigurumi on a blue-jeaned lap. The one on the right is pink and orange swirled, the one in the middle is pink and brown, and on the left is blue and brown. The middle one has a yellow, green, and orange leaf mask with several trailing yarn tails sitting on top of it, and a person's hand is holding a green leaf mask in place on the leftmost korok. In the background are a small pair of red scissors, a yellow-handled crochet hook, and a chopstick for pushing stuffing into small areas. Ya ha!

Helper cat never misses his chance to supervise sewing! I'm making dopp bags for my team at work and really feeling the loss of physical sewing stores since I can't run out for any notions I might be missing. I may add one more bag into the assembly line if I can find some nice scraps in my stash.
An orange tabby cat stands over three stacks of fabric and sewing notions. Each stack consists of two colors of coordinating fabric, one zipper and one spool of thread, all the materials to make a zippered dopp kit.

It's also a really lovely day for a mildly moody walk through the woods, just fyi.
A small clearing in the woods in autumn. The ground is thickly covered with leaf litter, and the leaves left on the trees are a mix of golden yellow and green. To the left is a campsite with a faintly smoking fire pit, and an adult, child, and dog are walking along the trail in the middle distance.A small stream snaking through a sparse wood. Both banks are covered with orange and brown fallen leaves, with a few green ferns and patches of moss along the edges. The trees rising above the stream have lost most of their leaves, and the ones that are left are yellow against the dark branches. A man in a gray sweatshirt and a medium sized brown dog are walking next to the stream.

I am trying again to make friends with a drop spindle, and I think I have to accept that my 33g Turkish just can't do thin singles. Which is fine, because this Shaniko Tweed from 316 Dye Studios (in the appropriately named Lite-Brite color) will look pretty good as a DK/worsted 2-ply. #handspun 🧶

Our camping trip was..not ideal (dog got injured at the sitters, car broke down two states away from home, and it was so cold and rainy that we left a day early), but we're having a nice do-over with hot dogs, s'mores and knitting by the fire pit in our own backyard. #knitting #handspinning 🧶

I fell off the #tourdefleece wagon so hard. My travel project for my work trip was no good - short staple wool that I wanted to spin thin for socks does not go with a heavy spindle - and I was swamped with homework when I got back. Still, I finished my handspun socks on the plane! #knitting 🧶
A pair of hand spun, hand knit socks laid out on a faded blue deck railing above a blooming hydrangea. The socks have short, rolled cuffs and a traditional heel flap. We have a swatch, perfectly 8 stitches per inch! It biases a tiny bit, which is not too surprising, and is wonderfully smooth and squishy.
A knitted swatch, still on the needles, on a gray background. The stitches are tiny and even, and subtly striped in purple, green, brown, and turquoise. The loose yarn to the side is energized and twisting back on itself, surprising given how smooth and even the surface of the swatch is.

Getting ready for #sockcuterie! This is #handspun superwash merino/nylon, 99g, 346y. I dyed the fiber myself and spun into an opposing ply. This is my first time using an opposing ply structure so I'm leaning towards plain vanilla ankle socks. Now to swatch! #knitting #knitsky #handspinning 🧶
A multicolored skein of yarn held in a hand in front of a weathered wooden table bearing a digital yardage counter.. The yarn is various dark shades of green, blue, and purple, and the visible fingernails are painted in a matching green shimmer. A tattoo of something yarn-like is partially visible on the person's arm.The yarn spun into a cake, showing the subtle shaded stripes, sitting on the same battered table. In the background is a pair of folding gold scissors.

The FB marketplace gods have been kind to me lately! We just got back from picking up this Pat Green carder and I'm already putting her to work. My first batt is from a silver Romney fleece that I threw into a pot of random purple and turquoise dye on a whim. #handspinning #handspunyarn 🧶

The wool is light and fluffy, and is made of blended shades of purple and faded turquoise. The fiber was originally silver gray, giving the colors a muted dusty undertone.

Starting off a long weekend with coffee in one of my favorite mugs, peanut butter cookies, and knitting! I only have about an inch and a half to go on this sock, then I'm super excited to cast on a hand spun pair. #knitting #knitsky 🧶
A mug of coffee, a peanut butter cookie, and an in-progress hand knit sock arranged on a gray couch. The mug is white and has "Disneyland" printed near the rim, and is decorated with purple and yellow images of various Disney rides and characters. The sock is long and thin, knit in a ribbed pattern, and is black with speckles of neon pink, bright blue, and gray. There is a bite missing from the cookie.

Lots of lacrosse means lots of sock knitting. Saturday alone, we had tiny tots in the early morning, high school in the late morning, and a youth tournament afternoon into evening, all of which got me through this gusset and heel turn. #knitting #knitsky 🧶
A hand holding up an in-progress knitted sock. The pattern is the Everyday Socks by Andrea Mowry, and the yarn is Knitted Wit Victory Sock in Nasty Woman. Nasty Woman, the color way of the yarn, is black with pops of neon pink, bright blue, and gray and is being knit using the magic loop method. A pale green circular needle loop is in front of the sock, and the visible thumb nail is painted iridescent pink and green. In the background are blue bleachers and an out of focus lacrosse game. Two hand knit socks, one finished and one half finished, laid flat on the knitter's lap. The socks are black, neon pink, bright blue, and gray speckled, and knit in a ribbing pattern that makes them look very long and skinny. A partially knit sock and a Dr. Who knitting bag on a park bench. The sock, a week prior to the other pictures, is only a few inches long.

Oops, I bought a new spinning wheel... This Country Craftsman popped up nearby for $50 and I couldn't help myself. She is from 1992, 4 years younger than my main wheel, and already spins remarkably well with just a bit of oil. Time to learn Blender and print more bobbins! #handspinning 🧶
A saxony-style spinning wheel in front of a cabinet full of yarn. The wheel is a medium brown wood and looks like a classic fairy tale spinning wheel, distaff and all.

A very timely #showmeyourknits cardigan week since I just sewed the buttons on my Sinister Catdigan yesterday! The pattern is by @ancaitinbeag.bsky.social and the yarn is Jamieson of Shetland 2 Ply. I love each and every one of their judgey little faces. #knitting 🧶
A woman wearing a hand knit cardigan with a cat motif. The yoke of the sweater is purple with a band of off white repeating cats around the shoulders, and the body and sleeves are dark gray. She is wearing it with a plain black top and a navy and cream patterned skirt, and is standing in front of a glass fronted cabinet full of yarn. The picture is cropped so her face isn't visible.A close up of the sweater showing the progress of sewing on buttons. The buttons are purple and flower shaped.

More progress on my hand spun sweater! Color 4 of 5 is now in play, and I can say with confidence that I will not be finishing in time for the March to May KAL. I will, however, be done in time for the state fair! #knitting #handspinning 🧶

Making progress on my rainbow sparkle spin! The lighter bobbins will be piled with the dark purple for a stripey marl. #handspun #handspinning 🧶
Two 3-d printed bobbins of yarn on a spinning wheel. The bottom bobbin was just finished and is still on the flyer, and the yarn is a pale purple. The top bobbin is resting on the other bobbin at an angle, and the yarn is a mix of peach, raspberry, and pale yellow. An in-progress bobbin of yarn on a spinning wheel. The bobbin is 3-d printed in silver PLA, and the yarn is a dark plummy purple. Up close there are glints of delicate subtle sparkle.
