Digging into the GPS information in Find My, I find the last broadcast location was not Place Charles-Béraudier, but just across the street - in the Westfield Shopping Centre.

Then today I go back to Lyon to see what I can find, on my way back north. I go first to the lost property at Part Dieu, where the lost property is listed in a kind of paper ledger (image is deliberately low res) which does not inspire any confidence at all. But they have nothing matching my bag.

And it is on the west side of the tracks at Lyon, towards Westfield Shopping Centre at Place Charles-Béraudier. I should have checked this *before* stating to SNCF I thought it was going to Nice. I assume from this I had left it in the Genève - Lyon train, and not the Lyon - Valence (- Nice) train.
