How many turned out for the ‘No Kings’ protests this weekend? Because 3.5% is the number that matters. Political science suggests that when 3.5% of a population mobilises in sustained protest, change becomes likely. In the US, that’s roughly 11–12 million people. History is never wrong!

Europe should build serious strategic autonomy and increase defence spending. Strengthen the European pillar within NATO and reduce over reliance on Washington. But NATO remains the operational vehicle. Exit should not be the objective.
