On a non-geopolitical note, I am really looking forward to the cooler weather and the extremely overdue incoming rain. The soils are hard and not very absorbent though - some areas may get devastating flash flooding. I can only hope the rain comes in gradually to prime the soil.

I just want things to get better and for recovery to happen for the people of Ukraine, Palestine, Lebanon and the non-IRGC supporters of Iran. I want the sovereignty threats to Canadians and Greenlanders by the US to end. I want Venezuela to retain its oil fields.

I'm wary of China over Taiwan but one might have thought that if they were going to invade Taiwan, wouldn't now be the perfect opportunity? The Orange One might not even try to defend Taiwan anymore - and yet, China still hasn't made a first strike - are they still the threat we were warned about?

The US has not been a saviour to the oppressed in Iran. The US has not been smart - decisions made have caused other Middle Eastern nations to suffer losses of lives and homes & everyone else to suffer economically. In Iran, innocent anti-IRGC civilians have perished by US/IL bombing + IRGC bullets.

Today, Russia, Israel and the US are the biggest threats to world peace militarily speaking - these three nations have caused the most direct state-sanctioned suffering to people in other countries in the last few years. Iran has its villains, helps RU and killed it's own people - US hasn't helped

Then there's all the actual crazy acts on harmless non-US allies like Venezuela and Cuba. There's the reckless bombing on Iran joined with a destructive IL with both Iranian military AND CIVILIAN targets obliterated which in turn caused damage to Middle Eastern allies through retaliation

Oman added on to the number of US allies under threat from the wannabe Orange King. That's Canada, Greenland (and Denmark), Ukraine, Spain (and the EU), South Korea and Oman who have all received a threat or actually been directly damaged by the leader of their most powerful "ally".

In Italy, many railways have the sides of the rails painted white instead of bare rusty steel - I wonder if painting the sides of rails a reflective white colour can reduce the amount of sustained heat from direct sunlight and reduce the chances of the track bending - a cause of trains de-railing.

We need emergency reservoir building. I don't know the legal framework required to do so, but we are heading in the direction of water emergencies. Drought + regular consumption + new consumption (data centres?) + firefighting against wildfires = water emergency (in my opinion).

If I had magical powers, I'd make it rain overnight at least two times a week, every week in the summer. I'd welcome occasional temperatures above 30 degrees in southern England but keep things between 22 and 27 degrees. But I'm just not being realistic.

National governments facing dry conditions and drought (including the UK) should put a temporary ban on shops and supermarkets selling disposable BBQs while also making it illegal to use bought ones during these prolonged dry conditions. Enforcement on places of cigarette disposal is needed too.

I hope Andy Burnham will be a good PM. I also hope he brings in proportional representation before the next general election rather than after (since he might not get the chance). Next GE needs to be PR - STV or better. I'm not confident he'll take us on a path back into the EU or SM though.

Reports of power cuts due to the heatwave. I strongly advice that if you are using a computer plugged into the mains that you write a lot of data to your storage drives unless you have a highly rated uninterruptable power supply (UPS). Prioritise laptop useage. Don't do any BIOS updates.
