My opinion of the Erasure news? Well, it's a shame, but I remember Vince saying "Maybe I could just appear by video link? I don't do anything!" thirty years ago so it's not a complete surprise. I'm not totally sold on the new song but I expect the album will be marvellous.

It is very upsetting when a well-meaning relative buys a book as a gift from Amazon only for it to turn out to be a piece of fake crap. I tell people to use Waterstones, Blackwell's, HMV... any outlet that only sells stuff from legit publishers. Take your business elsewhere.

Beautiful film. Incredibly inventive and with some astonishing images and tricks. Even as it has the "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" thing it subverts it - it has Clementine expicitly say that she isn't a concept etc. Another DVD for the "keep" pile, I want some of Charlie's genius to rub off. Recommended.

I find myself mentally editing stuff as I watch it, could have cut that whole scene, could have come in later, could have left earlier, this is telling us stuff we already know etc. People used to say that TV drama was slower in the 60s and 70s. They don't say it so much anymore.

JW Ted Lasso series 4. Another fine series, if a bit ramshackle in terms of plot (it feels like there were changes of plan during the production, with some characters left with nothing to do). Tanya Reynolds is the breakout star and will go on to do more great things.
