Be interesting to see what real sporting consequences there are for City. I recall a similar case in Scotland not so long ago when the football authorities tried to crowbar a new club into the top league without having to face any real sporting consequences for their predecessor.

I'm a Scot who lives in Ireland. I'm happy here, my family are settled and life is good. I've read some amount of horrific bile about a football match that should never have been allowed to take place. Shame on UEFA and shame on the FAI. Cowards.

Wow—turns out the first England goal was illegal and VAR missed it, which is surprising in a tourney in which VAR has been aggressively involved in many situations it wasn't supposed to be. Now it was supposed to be and apparently they decided they wanted to see an England score.

I've read some amount of bollocks excuses in my time but the one that America can't compete at "soccer" because their elite athletes play in the NBA or NFL is the absolute peak. A country of 350m people can easily accommodate more than 3 sports. Ireland has 5m people and are competitive at rugby.
