what a mess, don’t use TailTag lol

TL;DR
TailTag is a vibecoded mess of an app and accompanying backend.
Everything you have ever uploaded to TailTag, regardless of your public/private visibility, is publicly accessible in full.
A bad actor could, in theory
- Send push notifications to anyone, at any time, as much as they want, with whatever text they want, with delivery receipts.
- See every photo you have ever uploaded, all text you have ever written, any connection you have ever made, any achievements you have ever been granted. Literally any bit of PII data (besides your password).
- Receive live updates for any data on the app, essentially allowing them to see all happenings in full and in real time.
- Map social circles and view catch images which may reveal a suiter and/or player's location.

🚨 On 7 July, MEPs voted 331–303 to fast-track the return of Chat Control 1.0 mass scanning. A binding vote follows Thursday, 9 July, where an absolute majority of 361 MEPs is needed to stop it. Take action now! fightchatcontrol.eu

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a cancer vaccine that has shown STUNNING results, PREVENTING up to 88% of MULTIPLE aggressive cancers by harnessing dual-pathway nanoparticles that train the immune system to recognize and destroy tumor cells. In some cases, it COMPLETELY prevented metastasis.

What happened today?

Behind closed doors, the Law Enforcement Working Party group approved the revised Danish Chat Control compromise with broad support. While mandatory scanning had officially been dropped, Article 4 of the new text reframes and reintroduces it by obliging providers of e-mail, chat, and messenger services to take “all appropriate risk mitigation measures”. This effectively forces providers to scan all messages, including private, end-to-end encrypted content.

The same article outlaws anonymous communication by requiring every citizen to verify their age before accessing a service, kneecapping whistleblowers, journalists, political activists, and people seeking help who depend on anonymity. Article 6 further imposes a digital house arrest and would ban minors from installing software which comes with a significant risk of grooming, such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and online games like Roblox.

What happens next?

The legislation now moves to the Coreper (Committee of Permanent Representations) for approval. Without major political objections, the Council will formally adopt its position. At this stage, both the Council and Commission unite in imposing mass surveillance on all 450 million citizens of the European Union and we enter a rushed trilogue. Unfortunately, while the mandate of the European Parliament does not suffer from the same flaws, the Parliament is traditionally known for giving in.

What now?

We raise our voices. Louder.

My friend Allan, who’s active in the Swedish furry community has been detained awaiting deportation to Russia. Despite facing prison due to being gay and refusing to pick up arms to fight in Ukraine, Swedish authorities ignore his lawful claim to be granted asylum. www.flamman.se/allan-ar-hom...
