Heh, even that post is written by an LLM. For obvious reasons I assumed it would be, got to "In plain English, the core reads..." and was convinced, and then the classic "MiSTer work—huge thanks" to seal the deal.

Heh, I'm reminded of my grandfather, who was in the Swedish military during WW2, stationed on the border to Norway. They had lists of which of their own officers they would kill if the Germans invaded, because they assumed they would join them rather than fight them.

“We want military leaders who are critical thinkers that have studied the principles on which our founding fathers established this republic, and that are educated and prepared to win wars,” Hegseth said in March. I wonder what the founding fathers had to say about having a king?

“We want military leaders who are critical thinkers that have studied the principles on which our founding fathers established this republic, and that are educated and prepared to win wars,” Hegseth said in March. Yeah, no.

No, unless one party gets more than 50% of the votes, which hasn't happened for over 50 years, there will (usually) be a coalition of parties that cooperate to get enough votes.

The launchers move, and besides, I doubt the launchers are the limiting factor, russia is just launching as many missiles and drones as they can produce.

Did they know beforehand that the strike was coming? Or just luck that they had evacuated stuff? Or was it just distributed, rather than "evacuated"?

Perhaps not, but it is still a war crime, and people will die who had otherwise lived.

France grants Ukraine license to produce missiles, air defense, will deliver 16 Rafale fighter jets
French President Emmanuel Macron said July 13 that France would allow Ukraine to produce French-designed missiles and air defense, marking the first time it has licensed weapons production in Ukraine.

Ouch. "The stated objective is to reach a sustained production rate of over 300 Aster missiles per year by 2028." That's about how many ballistic missiles russia produces in a month...

I have no idea how you define "sufficent", but a missile fired now is still a missile that won't be fired during the winter.

Jon Hallin @jonhallin.bsky.social · 08/08/2026
How could they not be, after four years of almost daily missile strikes?
110
Jon Hallin @jonhallin.bsky.social · 08/08/2026
That is, weirdly, probably a good thing. Gives more time for repairs before winter sets in, and less missiles to terrorize Ukraine then.

The clip that shows a 1-200 meter long cargo vessel on the open sea? That would be a mighty powerful throw. It looks quite a bit like a drone though, can't imagine those flying near cargo ships though, right?

Then again, this is quite zoomed in, it's like a ten minute drive from outside the gray area to Komar.

That sounds unlikely, unless you stretch the concept of "near", but I'd be delighted to be proven wrong.
